I-9 Additional Guidance What is a n Authorized Representative ? The D epartment of H omeland S ecurity allow s employers to designate a n Authorized Representative to act on its behalf to complete Section 2 of the I-9 by having the A uthorized R epresentative meet in person with the new hire to verify the identity of the employee and review original identity documents The Authorized Representative can be any individual the employer chooses to designate to assume this role , including a new hire’s family or household member age 18 or over The A uthorized R epresentative will be asked to access HireRight and complete Section 2 of the I-9 and upload the new hire’s supporting identification documents to HireRight Please re view I-9 Section 2 - Helpful Hints for Authorized Representatives for guidance on how the Authorized Representative will assist in the completion of Section 2 of the I-9.
