Task 5 Your task is to use the theoretical knowledge of decision support systems in management to design an I ntelligent D ecision S upport S ystem(IDSS) You will combine knowledge from all concepts learned during this course i.e., Business Intelligence , knowledge extraction and representation , decision support systems and intelligent digital technologies , Artificial Neural Networks, Evolutionary Algorithms, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing Task details You nee d t o do some research and find out a manager ial problem t hat ca n be solved or imp roved using an intelligent decision support system. The problem MUST BE REAL and not h ypothetical. The problem could be that the cu rrent way of making a dec ision takes too long or may needs more p eople to a nalyze and evaluate the options. Assu me the role of an AI engineer or intelligent support system designer and develop a so lution that uses a rtificial neura l networks /machine learning to improve the decision process or solve the problem Your solution c ould involve visual data(im age da tasets) or numerical data D o some re search on the best algorit hms to use depending on the problem. Collect some sample data , clean it, and prepare a demo of how it works using MATLAB or Jup y ter n otebook (con sul t me if you would like to explore this route). Prepar e a short report maximum 2 pages in which you explain your solution The report should be written in Times New Roman, font size 12, double spaced. Make The outline should be strictly as fo llows: 1. Introduction A brie f description of the place where you have identified the pr oblem. For example, if it is a hospit al then describe it in one parag raph including deta ils such as location etc. 2. Problem des cr iption Describe the problem you ha ve identified . Explain the current way they are doing process es and how it is problematic or needs impr ovement. 3. Solution design Design soluti on to the issue you have identified . Describe the solution in one parag ra ph Draw a flow diagram showing how the solution will fit into the process. 4. Data collection and demonstration in MATLAB Based on your design and the d ata yo u need to make the solution, collect real data, or sample data if it is not possible to get real data . Clean the data and prepare it in a way you could use MATLAB Upload your data in MATLAB driv e and write the script. Include the sc reenshot o f the code and results as diag ram in thi s section. 5. Evaluation of the pr oposed solut ion Do a s elf - evaluation Provide some thoughts on your solution Wha t is your own op inion? Can it be improved further in the future ? If so , how? 6. C on clusion Give your rema rk on the whole exerci se and any recommendations Preparing the presentation Cover slide : Y our name and album number and title of your IDSS. Slide 1 : Briefly describe the organization, main activities, and goal s Slide 2 : Describe the managerial process that has a problem and explain in one or two lines and explain how an IDSS can help resolve the problem or improve the process. Slide 3 : Archi tecture/design of the proposed IDSS. This should be graphical representation of your design showing the process flow from the beginning(collecting data, extracting, processing) to the end (when a decision for the complex task/process can finally be made qu icker). Slide 4 : Small evaluation of your IDSS , conclusions and any remarks. You could for example quantify currently, the company employs many people to analyze and make decisions, but your IDSS is able to analyze and provide the best alternative to the decision maker. This is just an example. Come up with something interesting as you are now an expert.
