"This is a tale that we want to believe in, that creates a world we seem to desperately desire, free of the blatant commercialism that surrounds us, where love and decency and generosity of spirit are their own rewards. What we want Christmas to be all about, really.” "When Kris Kringle starts working as a Santa at Macy’s department store and begins to spread Christmas cheer, things tumble out of control. He’s truly Santa Claus, he insists, but skeptical adults and a doubtful little girl are unsure. The stakes rise when store executives take Kris to court, where he must prove he’s the real thing. Can goodwill triumph in the end? Coming to life on stage, this endearing tale fills our hearts and restores a childhood sense of wonder.“ This will be presented as a radio - style reader’s theatre production and is produced by special arrangement with the Dramatic Publishing Company of Woodstock, Illinois. It has the highest rating for any comedy on Rotten Tomatoes. Set at the height of Cold War tensions, the story features a demented U.S. general who, frustrated by his sexual impotence, plans to launch a nuclear strike against the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, an eclectic group of political officials desperately try to avoid Armageddon. Peter Sellers plays three roles in the film, including that of Dr. Strangelove, a weapons expert and barely reformed Nazi, and George C. Scott as a hawkish general. It’s one of the greatest – and undoubtedly the most hilarious – antiwar statements ever put to film. See it before the world ends. Satire/Comedy/War Runtime 1 hour 35 minutes UK/USA 1964 Rated PG Perfect Days Friday December 13 th 2024, 7:30 PM, Inlet Theatre German master director Wim Wender’s film Perfect Days the life of Hirayama, a toilet cleaner of the modern, stylish public toilets of Tokyo. Hirayama seems content with his simple life. He follows a structured everyday routine and dedicates his free time to his passion for music and books and photographing trees. More of his past is gradually revealed through a series of unexpected encounters. Perfect Days is a deeply moving and poetic reflection on finding beauty in the everyday world around us.
