We consider it an act of irresponsibility to close the eyes to the situation and to the potential escalation of the circumstances, taking into account the spread risk of the virus, as observed in other parts of the globe ( https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/25/health/coronavirus-us.html ). We also recognize our low risk of infection given that we are not part of the considered risk group. However, we must take into account the high possibility that, after the spread of the virus, the borders could be closed and we would be obliged not to leave Italy, being unable to return to Berlin on the 10th in order to come back to our work and other commitments. The prolonged stay in Italy would incur unavoidable, unpredictable and even impractical (considering our financial situation) expenses, not to mention the difficulty of finding treatment and the subsequent cost of a hospital appointment outside your country in case of infection. That said, we understand this case as an unequivocal situation of force majeure , in which the fault cannot be attributed to any of the parties and, on those grounds, we request the full refund of the amount spent, disregarding the current cancellation policy, understandably applied to trivial cases.
