We are 100% volunteer-run by a diverse team of young professionals coming together to donate their time & skills: from business & law, to design & software. We have no overhead due to our volunteer-only model. Every $ raised goes directly to our dual impact cause: feeding the hungry + employing small businesses. We fight for social equality by empowering minority-run businesses to feed their communities through nutrition & employment. hunger exists outside of COVID We have seen first-hand how all over the US, often only a few miles seperate those who make food & those who need food. We are bridging that gap via economic & logistical solutions. Our structure struck a chord Our 100% volunteer-run model is a highly innovative approach to service. We have allowed professionals to have enormous. intellectually-fulfilling impact- just in their spare time. Where are we going? Building beyond covid 6 How do we do it now? Every $10,000 serves 1,000 meals & employs a small business for 200+ hours 7 We Serve 11 Cities We handle the logistics We operate in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. We are constantly analyzing and improving our operations to ensure we are serving communities most in need. So far, we have served 473 communities through 166 kitchens. We take care of the nitty-gritty so our partners can cook meals and gather those in the community who need them. Our engineering team automates almost all of our operations. We’re always iterating towards more scale and efficiency, so we can focus on the human side of our mission. 8 We focus on providing high quality, hot, nutritious meals. We create meaningful part-time work that has proven just as impactful as a full-time non-profit. Minority female business owners were disproportionately hurt by the economic pain of the pandemic. We financially empower this community & their growth- thus, directly investing in the promise of a more equitable future. We work within the food supply chain to secure in-kind meal ingredient donations, recovering some of the 40% food supply that is wasted in the US. We believe you cannot be anti-hunger without being anti-poverty. It is important to us that our kitchen partners sustain a dignified living wage for their workers. We are lifting our communities up through nutrition and employment. T his builds long-term relationships between restaurants and the shelters they feed. Our industry-level policy thinktank produces research and insights that to help our restaurant partners weather hardship.
