There's an extremely consistent message in the propaganda of the Trump administration It's supposed to work in their favor, but I think it's very close to backfiring At their recent ceremony where they dedicated the US to the Christian God for the next 250 years, Speaker Mike Johnson drug out this old line In the 20th century, you gave brave leaders like President Ronald Reagan the courage and heart to speak boldly to the promise of God-given liberty and the emptiness of godless Soviet tyranny. >> In Trump's presidential message on the National Day of Prayer, he said, "This proud birthright of faith moved our nation to expand the promise of independence to the furthest reaches of our continent and defeat the evil forces of atheistic communism." And most notably, the Trump administration publicly announced their new counterterrorism strategy, saying, "Currently, we face three major types of terror groups One of them supposedly being violent left-wing extremists, including anarchists and anti-fascists." They said they will prioritize the rapid identification and neutralization of violent secular political groups whose ideology is anti-American, radically protransgender, that's me, and anarchist We will use all the tools constitutionally available to us to map them at home, identify their membership, map their ties to international organizations like Antifa, and use law enforcement tools to them operationally before they can maim or kill the innocent We will do the same with the state sponsors of such groups Man, what would it be like to have a state sponsor as a as a as a leftist activist I have not known that joy Maybe one day and those governments undertaking lethal plots on US soil or against Americans anywhere This goes right along with Trump's very public national security memorandum from a little while back which instructed federal agencies to treat anti-Americanism, anti- capitalism and anti-Christianity, support for the overthrow of the United States government, extremism on migration, race and gender and hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality as indicators of terrorist activities Yes, apparently uh us us US us radical leftists and and atheists are we're considered terrorists now And of course, Project 2025 and Trump's Agenda 47 talked repeatedly about deporting so-called Christian-hating communists, Marxists, and socialists Now, an extremely common response to all of this rhetoric is, okay, they're obviously trying to distract from the fact that the vast majority of domestic terrorism is right-wing That's all this is, right It is totally accurate to say that right-wing violence far outpaces any other form of ideologically motivated violence in the US It's also true that the Trump administration removed the research that shows this from the Justice Department's website right after Charlie Kirk uh said something racist for the last time But I think there's more to this than distraction or scapegoating First of all, publishing these counterterrorism documents publicly is an attempt to intimidate leftists They want to scare us into complying in advance But also, when they point to us as a threat, they're not totally wrong They're lying, of course, about us being a threat to the American people Leftists are definitionally on the side of working people, the 99% But leftists are a threat to the administration, the owning and ruling class All right, I say that and I can already hear you replying, "But radical leftists are such a tiny minority in the US They're not even all that well organized right now What kind of threat could they possibly be?" Here's the thing The threat of the radical left to the ruling class is not totally determined by the number of people who identify as some form of revolutionary socialist at any one time The threat that we pose to the ruling class remains even when we exist in minuscule numbers And the ruling class in this country has always known that To explain, let me tell you a story of how a tiny leftist movement terrified the brave and courageous US leader Ronald Reagan But hold on a sec Did you guys know that I'm going to be at a speaking event this year with Ron Reagan, Ronald Reagan's son Yeah, the description and pinned comment for your tickets Onto our story time Grenada is one of the smallest sovereign nations in the Western Hemisphere In the 16th and 17th centuries, European colonists exterminated the indigenous people of the islands Then the British repopulated them with enslaved Africans, forcing them to grow cash crops for the empire Wealthy plantation owners controlled the people for centuries, keeping them poor and powerless even after slavery was abolished in the British Commonwealth From the 1950s through the 70s, the British supported dictator Eric Garry ruled But a revolutionary force began to mobilize against him starting in the early '7s This was the New Jewel Movement, a party led by two Grenadian Marxist Panaffrican men, Maurice Bishop and Bernard Cord It presented Grenadians with a plan to develop the country along non-c capitalist lines In a country of only about 100,000, they reached and mobilized tens of thousands of people After years of struggle and hardone support of the people of Grenada, the new jewel movement succeeded In 1979, the party took over the state in a bloodless coup and established the people's revolutionary government The party quickly went to work on exactly what it promised It made schooling and healthc care free and universal It provided free books, clothing, and hot meals for every student It created a national child care system, cut the prices of food and basic goods, increased the quality and accessibility of housing, built infrastructure providing water, power, phones, sanitation, and roads across Grenada, and it expanded women's rights The movement of our women is part OF THE MOVEMENT OF ALL OUR PEOPLE TO EXTEND THE RIGHTS AND THE POWER OF ALL OUR PEOPLE IN our society. >> The PRG diversified their agricultural system so that Grenadians could finally grow at least some of their own food instead of working on sugar plantations and trading their crop for their actual needs It expanded their industrial base and tourism industries and used that income to provide for the needs of the people Their progress in just a few years was significant Just before the revolution in 79, Grenada's unemployment rate was 50% or higher By 83, it was 14% Their literacy rate went from about 85% to 98% The number of doctors and dentists in the country also doubled All the while, of course, the US worked toward the PRG's destruction, practicing for large-scale invasion, targeting New Jules leadership with bombings, and possibly probably deploying CIA agents to sew discord in the party. >> A bomb was placed where thousands of Grenadian patriots had gathered This bomb was placed and intended to to to eliminate and to you know make a mass murder of the Grenadian leadership. >> Why would the US even bother to do this though Grenada was friendly to US visitors It welcomed trade with the US and obviously posed no military threat whatsoever with its population of hardly 100,000 I looked it up There are more active duty uh members of the US military in my city of Texas than than there is people in Grenada So why did the US leaders at the time feel threatened I'll let Maurice Bishop himself answer that one. >> On June 5th, 1983, Grenada's Prime Minister Maurice Bishop addressed an audience of some 3,000 people at Hunter College in New York City Bishop was in the United States as part of his government's long-standing policy to normalize relations with the United States But the Rean administration, rather than consenting to meet with the prime minister, stepped up its attacks against Grenada, accusing the Bishop government of being a Soviet Cuban pawn and a threat to democracy in the region The real reason for all of this hostility is because some perceive that what is happening in Grenada can lay the basis for a new socioeconomic and political part of development They give all kinds of reasons and excuses Some of them credible, some utter rubbish There's an interesting one that we saw very recently in a secret report of the State Department I want to tell you about that one so you can reflect on that one That secret report made this point that Grenada is different to Cuba and Nicaragua And the Grenada revolution is in one sense even worse I'm using their language than the Cuban and Nicaraguan revolutions because the people of Grenada and the leadership of Grenada speaks English and therefore can communicate directly to the people of the United States But I want to tell YOU WHAT THAT SAME report also said and said that also made us very dangerous. >> And that is that the people of Grenada and the leadership of Grenada are predominantly black They said that 95% of our population is black and they had a correct statistic And if we have 95% OF PREDOMINANTLY AFRICAN origin in our country, then we can have a dangerous appeal to 30 million black people in the United States Less than five months after his appearance at Hunter College, Maurice Bishop, a number of leading members of the New Jewel movement, and many Grenadian citizens were killed. 6 days later following the executions and killings, 6,000 US troops supported by helicopter gunships, fighter aircraft, and a large naval task force from the world's most powerful nation invaded Grenada, the smallest sovereign nation in the Western Hemisphere. >> The Reagan administration sent over 6,000 heavily armed troops to Grenada, bombed their psychiatric hospital, and instilled a US puppet regime All because Grenada held the potential to show working people in the US that an economic and social order which served their interests and not the interests of the rich was actually possible And when a group of working people is acutely aware that their interests are not being served, they're much more likely to adopt a revolutionary attitude themselves I want to credit Olay from the channel Olurinati for introducing me to that clip of Maurice Bishop in her own work She produced one of the best and most underrated videos on YouTube I have ever seen It's titled Why the Real Revolutionaries Are Dead She covers the Grenadian Revolution and invasion in much more detail there, and you guys have got to go watch that Also, while you're there, subscribe to Allurati She is one of the best creators on this platform in my opinion Links to her stuff in the description This is the paradox of the owning class When they noticeably increase their exploitation of working people, they simultaneously get more powerful and contribute to conditions under which they're more likely to be overthrown So, they try to turn you away from anyone with an idea of how to build a better system They call leftists terrorists They say leftists maim and kill the innocent They say they're godless and power- hungry They send the cops, ICE, the FBI, and the CIA after them But there may yet be a backfire effect to the Trump administration lumping non-religious people and even liberals in with us radical leftists Many non-religious and/or liberal Americans have resisted this grouping since at least the Cold War era, stating that they are not radical They're just regular Americans But I think this administration has people reacting differently Many of the exact same things which past administrations, Republican and Democrat, have done are still happening They're violently arresting and deporting our neighbors, filling up for-profit and state prisons with young black men and using them as a slave labor force, enacting violence against any country with oil, protecting the profits of mega corporations instead of ensuring that regular people have housing, health care, and food The difference is this administration is not doing this with all the typical polish of someone like an Obama or a Clinton or even a Bush Actually, they're doing it far more loudly and brazenly And so more Americans are taking notice of these atrocities Then they see leftists organizing openly against these things and have to ask the question which leftists have been begging liberals and conservatives to ask for so long. >> If communists, if we leftists, if we Marxists, if we revolutionaries, if we progressives, if we all we want is to hunger for power, then why do we side with the powerless Then why don't we toy up to power Why don't we take the road of the Henry Kissingers That's what hungering for power is It's climbing like the political climbers and careers have done in every country in the world And we on the left don't do that We stand out in the rain We stand out on the picket lines We put our jobs on the line We risk our careers In many cases, we even risk our physical safety and our lives in all sorts of countries If it's power we want, why do we take such a securitous route The capitalist class is creating conditions in which a growing number of people want radical change And they're giving radicals a great chance to show their friendship to the working class All while capitalist state leaders point at leftists and scream, "Don't listen to them They want radical change." Many Americans are now primed, I think, to start saying, "Yeah, okay Maybe radical leftist politics aren't a bad thing Maybe I could even be a leftist For what it's worth, that pretty much happened to me You've seen my content going further left in the past year And I I I think that this video kind of explains a little bit of how and why that happened This administration is giving away the game, if you ask me They're telling us precisely how to defeat them Adopt and act out leftist politics Organize in your local area, collectively oppose the owning class, build alternative systems to theirs, and refuse to submit to anyone who claims some divine right to rule us all Thank you for watching I've been Drew of Genetically Modified Skeptic Go ahead and watch Olay's video about black revolutionaries next It's so worth it A special thanks to my patrons for their constant love and support And praise be unto our Lady River, my top patron and the official savior of this channel If you want to support my work, subscribe and do go check out my Patreon As always, if you are an apostate in need, there are resources linked in the description to help you find community and mental health support Remember to be kind to others in the comments And until next time, stay skeptical.
