During rotation, the latter are pushed into contact with the pump body, due to the effect of the centrifugal force, creating closed spaces that progressively increase the volume by drawing air from the container to be evacuated and expelling it from the loading duct. The dry pumps can work, in continuous service, both at atmospheric pressure and at maximum vacuum. On the contrary, they cannot be used, except with special lters, when the sucked air is humid or contains traces of oil or other liquids. All models can also be used as compressors. Versions are also available with safety guard and intake lter for use as mobile units. The operating principle of piston pumps is based on a piston that alternatively moves in a cylinder. The cylinder is equipped with valves that inhale air and exhale it outside. If used as compressors, these pumps create a pulsating ow that requires the presence of a reservoir. Applications • Medical • Analytical • Construction High Vacuum Pumps are used when the nal absolute pressure required is very low. These pumps may run continuously connected to closed containers to be emptied, and may not run continuously at length, at atmospheric pressure. The exhaust from these pumps is not ltered, thus, special puri ers are available for fumes. The operating principle of the high vacuum pumps is like the lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps one. However, in this case, the stator is immersed in the lubrication oil which has also the function of sealing the air loss. The pressure levels reached by this type of pumps are higher than any other rotary vane pump. These pumps are equipped with a gas ballast system to avoid the condensation of the water vapour. The high vacuum pumps can be made of a single rotor-stator group (single stage) or they can be made of two rotor-stator groups connected in series, so the rst group drain is connected to the second group intake system (double stage). Operation While working the pump must be continuously fed by the service liquid. In order to remove the heat generated by the compression and restore the liquid ring, usually water, since a part of it is discharged with the gas. When the two claws rotate in opposite direction the air is sucked in the pumping chamber, compressed and discharged under pressure. In the gear chamber two gears with appropriate oil lubrication are placed for synchronizing the claws rotation. A built in anti-suck back valve installed in inlet ange will prevent the air from owing back into the vacuum chamber when the pump is shutdown.
