The facts below come from CertFun’s EPYA_2026 exam syllabus, the official Esri exam page and Esri’s own Exam Information Guide; on every line where they overlap, they agree. Certification Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 Exam code EPYA_2026 Certification level Associate Current version Published 25 June 2026 - listed by Esri as the latest release Software tested ArcGIS API for Python 2.4.2 (13 October 2025 release) Platforms to know ArcGIS Online Q3 2025 and ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 Question type Multiple choice, in English Number of questions 75 Exam duration 90 minutes (1 hour, 30 minutes) Result Pass / Fail - Esri does not publish a percentage cut score Exam fee USD 295 (exam voucher) Scheduling and delivery Pearson VUE - test centre or OnVUE online Recommended experience 2-4 years with the ArcGIS API for Python Skill areas Four, with published weightings Do the arithmetic first: 75 questions in 90 minutes is 72 seconds a question . That is enough time to read a short scenario and recognise the right module, property or method, and not enough to reason it out from nothing. The result line needs a caveat too. “Pass / Fail” is how CertFun’s syllabus page records the passing score; Esri’s exam page and Exam Information Guide give the question count, duration, format and fee but no cut score at all, so there is no percentage to aim at. Esri states the audience plainly. The exam “expects the candidate to have 2-4 years of experience in GIS administration, content management, visualization, and analysis using the ArcGIS API for Python,” and the typical roles it names are data analysts, data scientists, GIS professionals, web GIS users and administrators, and content publishers. On Esri’s certification exams list it sits under the Developer heading at the Associate price of USD 295, beside the ArcGIS Developer Foundation and ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript exams. www.certfun.com Esri EPYA_2026 Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 2 SECTION 02 What Changed in the 2026 Version EPYA_2026 was published on 25 June 2026 as the successor to the 2024 version of this exam, which Esri’s own article lists with a retirement date of 30 June 2026 ; the 2024 version no longer appears on Esri’s exams list. Esri’s 2026 v 2024 version comparison sets the two blueprints side by side. 2026 version 2024 version Administration 31% 29% Content Management 32% 29% Visualization 20% 20% Analyze 17% 22% API version tested 2.4.2 (October 2025) 2.1.0.3 (March 2023) Status in Esri’s article Available to the public Retirement set for 30 June 2026 Three things follow. The weight moved away from analysis : Analyze fell from 22% to 17% and dropped from third place to last, while Administration rose from 29% to 31% and Content Management from 29% to 32%. The software jumped more than two years , from API version 2.1.0.3 (March 2023) to 2.4.2 (October 2025); Esri says the 2026 version “was re-organized to align with current software version 2.4.2.” And the objectives name different modules , which is where older study material goes wrong. • Web map layers: the 2024 line used “the GIS, features, mapping, and widgets modules”; the 2026 line uses “the map and features modules.” • Analysis: the 2024 line listed “the geoenrichment, geocode, geometry, features, network and raster modules”; in 2026 geoenrichment and network are gone from it. • Publishing: “use the GIS or features module to publish items” became “use the gis module to publish and update items.” • Visualization now covers “web map and web scene layers,” where 2024 said web map layers only. • Spatially enabled DataFrames are now used “to prepare data for analysis”; in 2024 the line was to “conduct analysis” with them. The count is unchanged at 13 objectives. Material that names EPYA_2024 still covers most of the ground, but check its module names and its weights against the table above before you trust it. SECTION 03 The Four Skill Areas by Weight Esri publishes a weighting for each section of this exam and describes it as “the approximate size of each section.” The chart below uses those published figures, in the order Esri lists them. Content Management is the largest at 32% - roughly 24 of the 75 questions if the weights hold - and together with Administration it accounts for 63% of the exam. www.certfun.com Esri EPYA_2026 Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 3 Administration 31% Content Management 32% Visualization 20% Analyze 17% Section weightings as published in Esri’s Exam Information Guide, June 2026. Every objective follows in Esri’s own wording, identical on the CertFun syllabus page and in the Exam Information Guide. Esri’s advice is to use the list “as a checklist to identify gaps”: if you could not write the few lines of Python a line describes without opening the documentation, it is a study item. 1. Administration — 31% • Identify portal/organization settings • Identify techniques for managing items, groups, and users • Given a scenario, use the GIS module to manage items, groups, and users 2. Content Management — 32% • Identify tools for managing content • Describe the process for managing content • Given a scenario, use the map and features modules to create and manage web map layers • Given a set of requirements, use the gis module to publish and update items 3. Visualization — 20% • Identify tools for creating and editing web map and web scene layers • Identify strategies for visualizing non-spatial data • Given a scenario, use the map and features modules to visualize map content 4. Analyze — 17% • Given a scenario, identify the appropriate type of analysis • Given a scenario, use the geocode, geometry, features, and raster modules to analyze data • Use spatially enabled DataFrames to prepare data for analysis (GeoAccessor, GeoSeriesAccessor, pandas DataFrame) www.certfun.com Esri EPYA_2026 Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 4 A navy edge marks the two areas weighted above 30%. The guide is just as explicit about what a qualified candidate can do and what sits outside the exam, which is the quickest way to cut a revision list down: In scope - tasks Esri expects a qualified candidate to perform Publish and overwrite; clone content; manage content, groups and users Create hosted layer views; retrieve data from web GIS layers; access feature attributes Use imagery data; feature analysis and basic raster calculations Use Pandas: table filter, DataFrame manipulation, select records by criteria Add layers and content to web maps and web scenes; manage and display a web map Edit features and records; basic geometry tasks (buffer, projections) Manage package dependencies; recommend authentication options Out of scope - tasks Esri lists as beyond the qualified candidate Advanced modules: arcgis.learn, network, geoenrichment, realtime, graph, schematics, ai, apps Tasks that need a license: network analysis, geoenrichment, realtime Configuring distributed collaboration; scheduling a notebook task; cloning users and groups Configuring JupyterLab; creating and configuring a Python environment (Conda, Notebook) Intermediate and advanced raster analysis, including orthomapping and segmentation Advanced geometry functions and filter; advanced rendering methods (Autocasting) Third-party libraries other than Pandas; abstract syntax trees; ArcGIS Pro and ArcPy SECTION 04 What the Credential Is Worth No public salary table isolates holders of this certificate, so the nearest market signal is the job title it points at. Talent.com’s GIS developer salary page puts the average US GIS developer at $120,233 a year, with entry-level positions starting at $100,000 and the most experienced workers making up to $148,748, as read on 5 October 2026. The same site puts the average GIS analyst at $90,000. Treat those as figures for the job titles, not for the certificate - but the gap between them hints at what scripting adds to a GIS career. The stronger argument is what the exam proves. Esri describes the qualified candidate as someone with ArcGIS API for Python proficiency in “automating administrative tasks such as managing groups, users, identifying organization settings, and accessing GIS properties” and in content strategies that include “performing bulk content operations” - the repetitive portal work that organizations most want taken out of human hands. Esri pitches certification as a way to “showcase your expertise in Esri products and differentiate yourself from the competition,” and issues digital badges to share the result. Where Associate sits in Esri’s three levels Foundation - 0 to 2 years of experience with Esri software - USD 275 Associate - 2 to 4 years of experience - USD 295 (EPYA_2026 is here) Professional - four or more years of experience - USD 325 www.certfun.com Esri EPYA_2026 Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 5 Passing also makes you findable. Esri keeps a public directory of certified individuals and invites those listed to “join the growing list of professionals that have validated and shared their ArcGIS expertise.” Nearly a third of this exam is administration done from a script. If you also administer an organization by hand, the ArcGIS Online Administration Associate covers the same ground from the other side; CertFun covers it on its EAOA_2026 practice exam page alongside the rest of the Esri programme on the CertFun Esri certification page. SECTION 05 Getting Certified, Step by Step 1 Read the Exam Information Guide Mark each of the 13 objectives as known, shaky or new - Esri calls it a checklist. 2 Work Esri Academy’s learning plan Esri curates one for this exam and says it is updated regularly. 3 Practise against a real organization Connect, search content, publish and overwrite an item, manage a group, edit features. 4 Buy the exam voucher USD 295 from the exam details page in Esri Academy, with your ArcGIS account. 5 Book with Pearson VUE Choose a test centre or OnVUE online; run the OnVUE system test first. Esri is careful about what its own resources promise: the learning plan for the 2026 certification is the recommended training, but the guide says that completing the recommended courses “does not guarantee a passing score.” The gap is time at the keyboard. Install the version the exam was written to - 2.4.2 - rather than whatever is newest, and keep the ArcGIS API for Python documentation open while you work through the two heaviest areas, Content Management and Administration. The guide’s resource list also names an Esri Press title, the Esri Advanced Guide to Python in ArcGIS; weigh it against the out-of-scope list above, which excludes ArcGIS Pro and ArcPy. Two exam-day details from Esri’s own preparation tips. For an online sitting, Pearson strongly recommends a personal computer rather than one issued by your employer, and a wired connection. And unscheduled breaks are only allowed at a test centre - the clock does not stop for them. For timed practice beforehand, CertFun’s EPYA_2026 practice exam follows the same topic weights and duration as the real exam. www.certfun.com Esri EPYA_2026 Esri Certified ArcGIS API for Python Associate 2026 6 SECTION 06 EPYA_2026 Sample Questions These come from CertFun’s EPYA_2026 sample questions page, shown here in shuffled order and verbatim. Each has three options and a single answer, as on the source page. Notice the pattern: a one-line scenario, then a choice between modules, properties or methods - which is the recall the “Given a scenario” objectives reward. Q1.
