We are a faith - based, one - year, residential discipleship program with the purpose to restore hope to those who suffer from addiction as well as other serious, life - controlling issues. We help people to become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Recovery describes the journey we make between being lost and being found, from darkness to light, from broken to in - repair. By focusing first on their relationship with Christ, students have a model for forgiveness and repair. Relationships are restored, and hope for the future is restored. Rebuilding our students ’ identities on the foundation of Jesus Christ allows for ongoing transformation and lifelong growth Ballerstedt Pete August 06 Wilson Alaina August 06 Morford Anna August 15 Seagren Rachel August 19 Seekatz Jan August 22 Leathrum Janice August 28 Extrom Joan August 29 Here is a great message on evangelism from Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship : There have been so many times when I have felt drained and exhausted, both physically and mentally. I have even felt like my spiritual gas tank was close to empty. But then, when I started to share the Gospel with someone, or stopped thinking about myself and focused on another ’ s needs and shared some truth from God ’ s Word, I was replenished in every way. I started on empty and ended on full. Proverbs 11:25 tells us that “ those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed ” (NLT). So here ’ s the bottom line: What ’ s your excuse for not sharing? Clearly, God could reach people without us. He could send angels down every street in the world with megaphones, declaring the Gospel. Instead, however, He has chosen to work through us. In fact, He almost seems to go out of His way to find the most unlikely candidates to accomplish His divine purposes. Psalm 66: 1 - 12 Acts 5: 17 - 24 We are working on putting together a shared Google Drive for members and constituents. The first project will be an updated directory. We would like to add submitted pictures at some point, however, we currently are inviting everyone to take a look and send us any corrections, additions or deletions. Click above to get to the new folder. We are highlighting our Adult & Teen Challenge sponsored students weekly so we can encourage the membership to send them notes of support. The students take part in a 12 - month residential program, and there are separate campuses for men and women. We invite you to send this week ’ s student a card of encouragement. Be sure and tell them you are a member of the College United Methodist Church, and that our church continues to pray for their progress and success! Adrian S. c/o Adult and Teen Challenge Program 31700 Fayetteville Dr. Shedd, OR 97377 We hope that you will be willing to pick one of the four students we sponsor and send them a card or letter of encouragement. If you do not want to stick to one student, you are welcome to write or send a card to our student of the week. You can make a financial contribution to our sponsorship fund by mail, in person, or online. But just as important is regular communication from the sponsors. Many of our students no longer have the family structural support, and your participation might be just the lifeline they are waiting for. You can just send a card with your name or a very short note. It is not necessary to write them a long letter. Just let them know you thought of them and are praying for them. Coming in Late Summer Credo Confirmation An informal, but informative class on the history and doctrine of Methodism. We do not yet know when the meetings will take place. It is open to anyone that wants to learn more about the Methodist Church and how it came to be, as well as challenges we will be facing in the very near future. The classes will be short, about 30 - 45 min., and you do not have to attend all of them to benefit from the information
