CURRENT PRODUCT REALITY Do not overclaim satellite access. HILLGUARD currently does not have a direct continuous satellite feed. The system can fetch available external/geospatial information when requested and process it for that analysis. GOVERNMENT COMMERCIALIZATION • Prototype: demonstrate the complete software workflow with clearly labelled demo/simulated data. • Pilot: work with one defined geography and an operational partner. • Validate: measure prediction quality, alert latency, false alarms, usability and operational usefulness. • Startup route: evaluate DPIIT recognition if the team forms an eligible startup. • Procurement: pursue government pilots/tenders and appropriate platforms such as GeM/CPPP. • Scale: replicate the deployment model across districts/states. Startup India states that DPIIT-recognised startups can access public-procurement opportunities and lists GeM and CPPP as key channels; applicable exemptions and procurement rules depend on eligibility and the specific procurement. 7. PATENT + IP STRATEGY Important correction: a patent does not mean the government will pay HILLGUARD tax/royalty simply because it is patented. A patent is an intellectual-property right. Commercial income would normally come from licensing, customers, procurement contracts, subscriptions or other commercial arrangements. For a computer-related invention, the stronger patent strategy is to identify a novel technical solution — for example, a technically novel way of acquiring/fusing sensor and geospatial data, performing multi-hazard risk computation, or producing a technical system effect — rather than claiming only the business idea, app concept or abstract algorithm.
