When he saw that Odette had the crystal, he used a beam from his magic ring to turn her into a swan! Quickly, the Fairy Queen placed a tiara containing the crystal on Odette’s head. “Rothbart can do nothing more to you, as long as you wear this crystal. By night, you will be human. But you will remain a swan by day.” As the sun set, the nearby animals transformed back into elves and fairies. And Odette became human! But she would be a swan again when the sun rose. The Book of Forest Lore held the secret to stopping Rothbart. The book was guarded by a troll, Erasmus, who lived in a magic vault. The unicorn, Lila, led Odette to the vault. Erasmus couldn’t find the book, though he searched for ) — hours. By the next morning, Odette was transformed back into a swan. Meanwhile, Rothbart hatched a plan. While Odette was a swan, he would get Prince Daniel to shoot her with his bow and arrow. Then Rothbart would get the crystal. Rothbart changed into a bird and lured Prince Daniel into the Enchanted Forest. Seeing a swan, Daniel prepared to shoot it. But something stopped the Prince. Just then, the swan changed back into a beautiful girl—Odette. She told Daniel her story. But suddenly Rothbart, in bird form, swooped down. He turned back into a wizard. “I lured you here to kill her!” he snarled. Rothbart fired a beam from his magic ring, but just before it reached Daniel, Odette stepped in front of it. The magic of Odette’s crystal saved the Prince. Suddenly, shrieks filled the air. It was Odile. Rothbart turned back into a bird and flew off toward her screams—she was being sprayed by skunks! But he promised revenge on Daniel and Odette. Disk 2 Odette and the Prince took a walk around Swan Lake. Later, as they ate a romantic dinner, Prince Daniel invited Odette to the Royal Ball the following night. Odette promised Daniel that she would come to the ball at the palace. And as the sun rose, she and the others became animals once more. By that evening, Erasmus had found the Book of Forest Lore. He ran to Swan Lake to find Odette. “The one who frees the Magic Crystal will share a love so true, it will overcome all evil magic,” Odette read. That must mean that Prince Daniel and I will fall in love, she thought. But the book also said that if one of the two pledged love to another, the crystal would lose its power. The elves and fairies helped Odette get ready for the ball. “The Prince will declare his true love for you. And then we'll all be saved!” they said. ) Suddenly, Rothbart, disguised as a bird once again, flew down and carried off Erasmus and the Book of Forest Lore. Odette, unnoticed, followed them. Once back at his palace, she watched as Rothbart turned Erasmus into a worm. Rothbart read the book and made his plans. As Erasmus spoke, Odette quickly prepared to fly to the Prince’s castle. “But a hunter will shoot you,” Lila said. “You can’t go alone. We'll go with you.” “I have to be the one to go to the ball,” Odette insisted. “Then Daniel will see he’s being tricked.” Rothbart and Odile, disguised as Odette and her father, arrived at the ball. And when Odile’s pendant sparkled, Prince Daniel saw Odette instead of Odile. “Would you like to dance?” Prince Daniel asked Odile. She agreed. Rothbart’s plan was working! I will rule the Enchanted Forest forever!” The Fairy Queen, elves, and fairies were devastated. They knew that peace would never return to the Enchanted Forest if it was ruled by the evil Rothbart. The friends found Prince Daniel with his bow and arrow. Together they prepared to battle Rothbart and Odile in order to save Odette and the Enchanted Forest. Rothbart saw Prince Daniel and laughed.
