SUMMARY OF COVID - 19 SITUATION — Report # 75 Local : The Yap Department of Health Services (DHS) Moderna COVID - 19 vaccination scheduled for March 22 - 26, 2021 is out. From Monday March 22 to Thursday March 25, 2021 the Division of Public Health will be open for first and sec- ond dose vaccinations from 9am to 11am on each of these assigned days. On Friday March 26, 2021 the Moderna COVID - 19 vaccination clinic will be open from 9am to 4pm for both first and second doses and then every Friday thereafter all people due their second doses will receive them only on Fridays. From March 8 - 14, 2021 the Yap Lab reports that it used 63 COVID - 19 test kits. 55 of those were for testing of frontline workers all of whom tested negative after port operations. To date a total of 1,446 covid test kits have been used. Total test kits remaining on hand and available for use is 6,240 kits. The Yap Lab will also be packing and shipping to Palau 200 GeneXpert SARS - CoV - 2 test kits for them to use before they expire so no supplies are wasted when they can be used by other jurisdictions. According to the Yap COVID - 19 Immunization Program Report, from January 19 to March 12, 2021 the top four munici- palities whose resident populations have received their first dose are Rull, Tamil, Gagil and Weloy. Rumung municipali- ty residents living on the island have not registered receiving any doses to date. The top two age groups to be vaccinat- ed to date are the 18 - 29 years old age group and the elderly 60 years plus age group. The gender distribution of those vaccinated to date are almost equal with just over half of those vaccinated being female and the just under half the number being male. For the vulnerable population, that is those living with underlying medical conditions such as cancer, diabetes, hyper- tension, mental health and people with special healthcare needs (SHN) COVID - 19 vaccination has started and contin- ues for them. As of March 3, 2021, 63% of eligible cancer survivors have been fully vaccinated with two doses, 32% of diabetic and or hypertensive patients have been fully vaccinated, 34% of eligible mental health clients have been fully vaccinated and 20% of SHN clients have been fully vaccinated. All vaccines are still only being given at the hospital public health site. To date mostly mild to moderate symptoms which include the expected fever, chills, joint pain, muscle pain, fatigue, headaches, tiredness, nausea, vomiting, pain and swelling at the injection site all of which subside either within a few hours or up to 72 hours after vaccination have been reported. It is common to experience some side effects as this is a sign that your body is building protection. Since the Moderna COVID - 19 vaccinations started in Yap from January 19 to March 15, 2021 a total of 2,728 first doses and 1,975 second doses have been administered. To date Yap has received 10,000 doses which can vaccinate at least 5000 people. Based on the above figures this means that about 54% of available first doses and about 39% of available second doses have been given thus far. Port of Entry (POE) operations in the last seven days included one cargo plane (APA), two passenger planes (CIA) and two cargo ships (Kyowa and Kota Ratna) cleared.
