The Festive Saree Shapewear Planner A practical guide to choosing, tying and wearing shimmer saree shapewear through the festive and wedding season. Prepared by the Ecstasy saree styling team. 1. Match the shaper to your saree fabric Hold your saree up to the light. If light passes through easily, colour matters most, because the shapewear will show. If it does not, focus on smooth shaping and a secure waist. Tie the drawstring to hold your pleats ● Tie the drawstring at your pleat line, usually around or just below the navel. ● Make it snug enough to slide two fingers under, and no looser. ● Use a double knot, or a bow with the loops tucked inside. ● Tuck the gathered pleats deep under the drawstring, not just at the edge. ● For heavy silk, add one safety pin through the top of the pleats. Choose your true size (XS–M or L–2XL), keep the drawstring snug rather than tight, and do a quick check between events. For a sangeet or reception with dancing, a straight full-length cut gives a more natural stride than a fishcut style. Keep cool on hot and humid days ● Dress on completely dry skin and use a light anti-chafe powder. ● Never size down in summer; a tight fit traps heat. ● Choose lighter sarees such as chiffon or georgette for daytime events. ● Change out soon after the function and wash the shapewear after each sweaty wear. A fitted, full-length shaper stops the saree bunching at the waist and twisting around the hips, and gives your pleats a firm place to sit.
