The Everyday Bra Support Guide Bulge, bounce, sweat or a bra that shows: a quick guide to the problem, the cause and the design that fixes it. Prepared by the Ecstasy fitting team. 1. Start with the band Most of a bra's support comes from the band, not the straps. It should sit level all the way around and stay put when you raise your arms. If it rides up at the back, try one band size smaller with one cup size larger. A new bra should fit firmly on the loosest hook. Match the problem to the design Problem Usual cause Design that helps Underarm or side bulge Loose band, small cups, narrow sides Wide power mesh wings, side shaping panel Bounce and top spillage Loose band, cups not holding firmly M-frame, double-layer cups, full coverage Sweat under the bust Skin-on-skin contact, padding holding heat Breast-separating, non-padded cotton Bra showing at a V-neck Centre sits too high Plunge bra with a low centre 3. Fixing underarm bulge ● Check the band first; a band that rides up pushes tissue out at the sides. ● Try a larger cup if the edge cuts in or tissue spills sideways. ● Choose wide wings for fitted kurtas and tops. ● Use the scoop and swoop: lean forward and sweep tissue from under the arm into the cup. Controlling bounce without wires A wire-free bra controls bounce when the whole bra works together: a wide, firm band, full-coverage cups, double-layer cup panels, a side shaping panel and wide soft straps. Keep a sports bra for running and high-impact workouts. Read more: What Is an M-Frame Bra, and How Does It Control Bounce Without Wires?. 5. Staying fresh on hot days ● Choose a non-padded, non-wired style for everyday summer wear. ● A breast-separating design keeps skin apart where sweat collects. ● Dress on dry skin, rotate your bras and wash after each sweaty wear. ● If a rash under the breasts keeps coming back, see a doctor. Wearing V-necks and low-cut tops A plunge bra has angled cups and a low centre, so it sits below V-neck, wrap and sweetheart necklines. Choose a skin-close shade like tan under light fabrics and black under dark ones, and check the fit while leaning forward. Read more: Which Bra Works Best Under Deep V-Neck and Low-Cut Tops?.
