They use symbolism and twilight language which only people initiated into secret societies can read between the lines while the average person believes it is just entertainment. This is symbolic to raising your seminal cells up the ladder, and becoming illuminated which the next scene from the movie shows. Eddie sees himself walking up the stairs and the lightbulb brightens. “I once was blind but now I see.” - Eddie The color of the film changes from a washed out color to a bright colorful tone. He then diffuses his neighbors anger with his newfound mental capabilities and they end up having sex. Throughout the film after each hook up, shortly after the effects wear off and the colors are back to a dull tone.
