Here’s what’s been happening in the last month in our Westhoughton Neighbourhood Watch area Community Update – Westhoughton We’ve continued monitoring local activity across Daisy Hill, Wingates and the Town Centre. Residents have reported: A small number of shed and garden tool thefts Attempted vehicle break-ins (no forced entry in most cases) Anti-social behaviour in park areas during evening hours Our priority remains keeping residents informed, aware, and connected. If you see suspicious behaviour, report it through the proper channels rather than social media so appropriate action can be taken. Working together keeps our neighbourhood strong. Recent Activity There has been an increase this month in reports of tools being taken from insecure sheds, as well as vehicles being entered where doors were left unlocked. We have also received concerns about groups gathering in park areas after dark and cold callers offering home repair services. Residents are reminded to ensure sheds, gates, and vehicles are properly locked, remove valuables from cars, and consider installing motion- sensor lighting where possible. Always verify identification from doorstep callers, and remember that banks and police will never ask for PIN numbers or full passwords. Staying alert and taking simple precautions helps protect everyone in our community. Monthly Newsletter NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH 2 7/ 0 2 / 2 6 ISSUE #2 Community Action Through Neighbourhood Watch, members are encouraged to play an active role in keeping Westhoughton safe and well-connected. This includes sharing verif ied safety information with neighbours, reporting concerns promptly through the appropriate channels, and looking out for elderly or vulnerable residents who may need additional support. Small actions such as checking in on a neighbour, passing on off icial crime prevention advice, or challenging misinformation make a meaningful difference. We are also encouraging residents to consider becoming a street contact to help strengthen communication across our area.
