CLASS ACTIVITIES OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHERS By conducting various activities an English teacher can enrich the classroom and its (English language) learning atmosphere by teaching relevant poems, essays, short stories that provide global perspectives on the subject/topic that is under study/discussion. ACTIVITIES: 1. GROUP ASSIGNMENT/DISCUSSION: In order to achieve English teaching goals an English teacher can: ● Divide students in small groups. ● Give them a week for group assignment. ● They will meet outside the classroom, interact and work as a team. It will improve their functional English skills. 2. DISCUSSION DURING LECTURE: In order to achieve English teaching goals an English teacher can: ● Divide the sections of the book/novel/poetry books/play according to the strength of the class (number of the students of the class). ● Assign them their tasks i.e.: that they have to research about the themes, author, character analysis etc. ● Students will discuss or give mock presentations about their assigned sections of the book, novel, poetry books, play etc. SAMPLE ACTIVITY: Select a poem/short story or a short essay of the writer Charles Dickens. Draw a thematic analysis of the selected text (i.e. poem, short story or a short essay) with the famous novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (or any novel or published literary work of Jane Austen). SAMPLE ACTIVITY: Write a short poem or short story regarding a particular theme/issue.
