Prepping for your shoot STYLE GUIDE Ok, So now what? Let's get Started! You booked your shoot... wahoo! Now the fun part begins. Prepping for your shoot doesn't have to be overwhelming. So take a deep breath and know that you are here. You belong here. This shoot is all about YOU! Before we get into the details, I want you to visualize the day, and I don't mean the weather or how crazy your kids might be. We can't control those things! But I want you to think about what these photos mean to you. Maybe it's about capturing a moment in time when life is crazy and you want to preserve all of the chaos. Maybe you are preparing for your little one and you want to remember the last few months before your life changes. Or maybe you just want a photo because you're always the one taking it. Something made you sign up for a photoshoot, and I want you to remember that reason. When you see the final result of a photoshoot, you see the perfect poses, smiles, and outfits, but you don't see the behind the scenes - the parts where the kids are running around like crazy, or the part where your husband forgets he knows how to smile. Point being... you can't help some of the things that happen at your shoot, so I don't want you to worry about them! If you trust me, I will capture all of the moments, and when you get your photos you won't even remember the chaos! Focus on the reason you wanted photos, and I promise you that magical things will happen. What do I wear?! Getting Dressed Please, no neon! It never comes out well in photos. Leave it on the dance floor. Dress for the weather... that cute short sleeve dress for your daughter might work in spring, but if it's 50 degrees you won't get any smiles when she is freezing. It's better to be comfortable. Avoid solid blacks. They can make it hard to see figures! Wear comfortable shoes, and leave the sneakers at home. Be prepared to sit down during your shoot, so wear something that you will feel comfortable sitting on the ground. Nobody wants an accidental flash! Leave the graphic tees for the lazy Saturdays at home. Unless your kid really is sponsored by Under Armor, then let's go for it! Everybody loves matching! I recommend wearing similar hues or complimenting colors rather than everybody wearing the same color, this will add more depth to your photos! First thing's first... I want you to be comfortable! Instagram is often filled with flowy dresses and felt hats that never seem to fit anybody in real life, so don't compare yourself. If those flowy dresses are your thing, then go for it! If you live in leggings and hoodies (me!), then we can find something that makes you feel cozy and cute. I want you to dress in a way that makes you feel beautiful! Here are some pointers and things to avoid: ... continued Getting Dressed Fabric types.. I'd wear what you are comfortable in, and avoid "boxy" types of fabrics. Velvet is always dreamy, and anything that flows with the breeze will look great. Patterns... if you want to wear a funky pattern, make sure the rest of the family doesn't have a clashing pattern. It's best to have one person in a pattern, and the rest in complimenting colors. Newborns... go for a cute swaddle and pair with a matching headband. We can always do outfit changes to get adorable romper some action as well. Jeans are ALWAYS okay!
