Environmental Responsibility Report 2018 Carbon Emissions We plan to significantly reduce our carbon emission by first calculating our baseline emission, then working out methods to reduce, and after all significant e ff orts are made to reduce, we will o ff set the remaining emissions through our environmental programs. We believe that it is incredibly important to take care of the environment, and we hope to show our e ff orts by becoming the very first film studio in China to be 100% carbon neutral. 49% 30% 7% 13% 1% Camera Lighting Editing Transportation Equipment Purchases Carbon Reduction We have opted to use energy e ffi cient GH5 cameras, and LED panels to reduce our energy consumption each year. We also make e ff orts to reduce transportation emissions when having to take part in productions outside of Shunyi. In the fiscal year 2018, we had a carbon emission of around 14.1 tons. This is a low average, and we plan on taking e ff orts to reduce our consumption. Our plans include: - Reduction in “lighting-on” hours - Reduction in electricity consumption during filming by powering o ff cameras. - Equipment purchase reductions by purchasing equipment from responsible brands such as Panasonic. - Purchasing fewer amounts of equipment by ensuring that it is all future-proof - Reducing transportation emissions by using crew busses, public transport, or carpool. - O ff setting carbon emissions by working on tree-planting programs Tree Planting Programs FILMISM has currently identified several locations within Beijing to plant specific species of trees that will be suited for the climate in order to absorb our carbon emissions. We hope to be taking soil samples and testing the following o ff sets in Late 2019. Funding FILMISM now requires all clients with projects requesting transportation or extra-ordinary electrical usage to supplement an additional “environmental responsibility fee.” These fees will be used to fund the environmental responsibility programs. Funds within the FILMISM budget will also be allocated to supporting the sustainability e ff orts. Paper Usage Reductions We have already reduced our paper consumption through our digitization of production documents. We use a program called “Studiobinder” to store and send all of our current production documents with the exception of scripts. We have made an e ff ort to significantly reduce the amount of paper that is used, and to use electronic documents wherever possible. We will suspend all advertising in print by the end of the year 2019. All advertising will be done in the digital form through digital video projections or TV screen ads. These will be added to the carbon emissions count. We plan on becoming paper-less with the exception of storyboarding and scripts by 2020. Paper reduction is measured in A4 Sheets of paper.
