Environmental Awareness Project Authors: Amaro Villegas Oquendo José Jerónimo Buitrago Duarte Tomás Alejandro Jáuregui Méndez Grade: 901 School: Bilingüe San Juan de Ávila Year: 2025 CONCLUSION Protecting the páramos means defending water, climate, and life. Every action counts: caring, reforesting, and educating are essential steps to secure our future. FINAL MESSAGE “If we take care of the páramo, we take care of the water. And if we take care of the water, we take care of our future.” 🌱 💙 PROJECT OBJECTIVE To raise awareness about the importance of the Colombian páramo through a visual comparative model “Before and After”, showing how human activities alter its natural balance. RECOMMENDATIONS Conduct similar projects in other schools. Promote reforestation in degraded areas. Encourage environmental education. Support national and local conservation programs. WHAT IS A PÁRAMO? Páramos are high mountain ecosystems where the water we drink every day is born. Colombia has more than 50% of the world’s páramos, including Sumapaz, Chingaza, and Santurbán. They are often called “water factories”, as they regulate the climate and store humidity for rivers and cities. The páramos are being destroyed by: Mining and livestock Intensive agriculture Climate change Uncontrolled tourism ⚠ If we don’t protect them, they could disappear in less than 25 years. WHY ARE THEY IN DANGER?
