November 2012 Lost Child Policy Purpose The purpose of this policy is to provide the school with a procedure for dealing with a lost child at the school. The care and safety of children always remains paramount at all times. Everyday procedures make it very diffic ult for a child to go missing. However, if a child did appear to be lost the following procedure must be followed. Policy Statement Two members of staff to check the main doors to ensure they are still secure. The following areas to be checked. 1 All rooms 2 Toilet areas 3 Kitchen/rest areas 4 Garden 5 Outside storage container 6 All cupboards Childs name should be called constantly during the search. The supervisor will keep the other children in the main hall, quietly on the carpet, and c heck the register again. If the child is not found within the building, two staff members will check the church car park and surrounding roads and grass areas. If the child is not found by this time the supervisor will contact the parents/guardians of the child, the police and social services.
