The Gators are going places ... Green River College Soccer is back! Following a two season absence from the NWAC the GRC soccer program was totally relaunched in 2022 and in less than two years has proven it belongs in one of the nation’s top two-year conferences The team has won 10 matches in two seasons and went undefeated in the 2023 NWAC Friendlies. Nine losses over the last two seasons have been by a single goal. Eight players have been named to the All-NWAC team and six of those honors have been earned by freshmen. The Gators need YOU to keep climbing! Join us for more fun in 2024! U GOTTA BE A GATOR! Why rep’ the River? Consider the ‘Four Cs’ The College The Culture Green River College is a public college where students from all over the world come together to learn, grow and enrich their lives. It is ranked by the Aspen Institute as one of the Top 150 Community Colleges in the USA. Green River’s main campus, founded in 1965, stretches over 180 acres of beautifully forested land. Strong academics, solid student services, a diverse and lively campus community and new facilities combine at Green River to provide students a one-of-kind education. You can live ON CAMPUS at the Campus Corner Apartments or commute to the college. The Student Union, Recreational and Athletics Center (RAC) and many classrooms are just a few years old and feature state of the art amenities and technology. To be a Gator is to pursue greatness while embodying the team’s core values of grit, commitment and respect. The program continually strives to be an INCLUSIVE and SAFE environment that treats each member equally and provides the opportunity for all involved to succeed by trying to meet a set of high standards. How it FEELS on a daily basis to be a member of the Green River College women’s soccer team is more important than any match result. We are a hard working and ambitious soccer FAMILY but one that finds time for fun! We hold regular social gatherings away from the field to bond and get to know each other on a human level. U GOTTA BE A GATOR! Why rep’ the River? Consider the ‘Four Cs’ The Competition The Coaching Put quite simply, the NWAC is considered one of the strongest 2-year college conferences in the country. And the West region, of which GRC is a part, is traditionally the deepest group. The NWAC regularly places student athletes in NCAA D1, D2, D3 and NAIA programs following their sophomore years of eligibility. Furthermore and even more importantly, as NWAC student-athletes have transitioned into a work environment, many have provided testimony about the significant benefit and value that participation in college athletics provided for them. In our first two years since the ‘return’ of the Gators to the conference we have experienced a lot of success, already winning 10 official matches and going undefeated at the 2023 NWAC Friendlies. However, we strive to reach the upper echelons of the conference and are not there yet. We are close! Ten of our losses have been by one goal. We need YOU to help us close that very small gap in such a high level league! Head Coach Keith Bleyer holds a US Soccer ‘A’ National Coaching License, the highest certification offered by the USSF, and has been coaching high level soccer for nearly 25 years. He played NCAA D1 soccer at Santa Clara (CA) University and is a former US Youth National Team player. He is also a Director at the Valor Soccer club in Maple Valley and a commentator for the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer. Assistants Savanna Dickson and Erik Lee bring NWAC playing experience and high level US Soccer coaching certifications to the program and our Goalkeeping Coach Jake Potter is a former NWAC and NCAA D1 college player (UW) who is one of the best GK trainers in the state. Structure and Preparation - The First Step to Success An organized program fosters discipline, provides clarity and can often make the difference in the pursuit of victory. Green River College Women’s Soccer training sessions are planned out in advance to increase efficiency, cover the needed tactical objectives and manage the players’ physical ‘load’ on the given day (periodization). Team trips come with a detailed and specific itinerary to optimize time and keep players both informed and safe. Team tactics and opponent scouting reports are created and distributed prior to matches so that every player is clear on the objectives trying to be met, challenges that will be presented and roles that are required. “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” - Benjamin Franklin RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO GREEN RIVER SOCCER PLAYERS Video Recording + Analysis Individual GPS Trackers All Green River College soccer matches are ‘LIVE STREAMED’ and recorded via an elevated Veo 2 camera system. This allows for fans to watch matches with the Veo Live app and for players to review video instantaneously. The team holds regular video analysis sessions and players are also ‘tagged’ in highlights and receive emails notifying them of available video clip analysis. Players can download their own clips and create ‘highlight reels’ to share with coaches of four year programs or professional organizations. Every GRC player receives a state of the art GPS ‘tracker’ from StatSports that allows her to analyze her physical output on any day of training, match competition or even during an informal individual workout. Various metrics and even heat maps are created and players can compare their data to the average of other college soccer levels, professional standards and even global stars! The coaching staff uses the StatSports data to monitor the physical load of the team and minimize injuries. Nutrition + Recovery Individual Workout Plans In order to help Green River College Soccer players optimize their physical ability to perform at a high level they are equipped with soccer specific information about the best nutritional choices and what matters most to aid and accelerate recovery from fatigue and intensive physical activity. Players are provided with individual workouts, both during the off-season and ahead of pre-season training so they can refine their technical ability and either build or maintain fitness levels. Standards are measurable and expected levels made clear. What do you want to study?
