Let us know if there is a January birthday We don ’ t have on our list! Our mission is to provide positive, safe, recreational & educational experiences for youth in our community. All of PYAC ’ s programs are designed to help give youth the tools they will need to successfully navigate through adolescence. We use a very “ common sense ” approach to youth development. Simply put, we believe the more positive assets youth possess, the less likely they will be to get involved with risk - taking behaviors such as drugs, alcohol, crime, or early sexual activity. As early as AD 140, a Christian named Papias wrote that Matthew had compiled the sayings of the Lord in Hebrew (presumably before Matthew translated them into Greek for a larger audience). We just finished a series on the beatitudes, and I am thinking this would be a good time to just continue on through the Book of Matthew. If we just cover a few key issues in the book, we should be able to finish right about Easter. Matthew is the first book in the New Testament. We can ’ t be really sure when it was written, but it is the first book right after what has been several hundred years of silence in God ’ s communication to the Hebrew people. Do you ever feel as though God has deserted you or that He sits in silence in the face of your requests? As we read through the pages of Matthew, not only do we see Jesus Christ revealed as Israel ’ s King and Messiah, but His coming to earth as God in the flesh reminds us of His deep love for us. Now resurrected and ascended, the Lord Jesus will always be with us, even to the end of time (Matthew 28:20). We are highlighting our Adult & Teen Challenge sponsored students weekly so we can encourage the membership to send them notes of support. The students take part in a 12 - month residential program, and there are separate campuses for men and women. We invite you to send this week ’ s student a card of encouragement. Be sure and tell them you are a member of the College United Methodist Church, and that our church continues to pray for their progress and success!
