SUNDAY SCHOOL SHOW AND TELL I went to Sunday school class one day, Just as the teacher was showing them how to pray, I noticed on a table something undercover, The teacher noticed me and motioned me over, As I stood there by the covered board I noticed 10 holes through that cover each in a different place, As I looked at this and wandered the teacher started telling them about god's grace, And how Christ willingly suffered for our sins, And because of that we could always be forgiven, Then the teacher brought out a hammer and gave each child a nail, She told the children they could hammer a nail in the board if they had a story about sin they had committed to tell, She told them not to worry that she would not hold it against them, And it would help them to get into god's holy realm, For confessing was a good thing, And it would make the angels sing, The first one that came forward was a boy, And after telling his story he hammered the nail in the board with pure joy, After she convinced them not to worry, One by one the children came up to tell their story, Soon all the holes were filled and all the children became quiet and still, With my help the teacher leaned the board against her best, As far as uncovering the board I was given the task, When I removed the cover from the board, The whole class roared, Then the tears began to flow, As a children's little hearts filled with woe, For on the board was a picture of Jesus with 10 nails driven in, Each nail a product of each childs sin, Six nails for the crown of thorns, One nail for Christs side that was torn, Two nails for the palm's of his hands, One nail to hold his legs together so he could no longer stand, When the teacher finally got the children to settle down, She told them to all gather round, She told them that each time that they sinned it was like that nail, And the children again began to wail, The teacher told them not to cry for there was away to make it right, An make the angels cry out with delight, We had to pray to god in heaven for his forgiveness, For the pain our sins had caused his son Jesus, For that is what we have done, When we sin we hurt god's son, The teacher asked the boy who first drove the nail in, If he was sorry for commiting his sin, Yes the boy said with a stammer, Then the teacher handed him the hammer, She told the boy to close his eyes and ask forgiveness from the lord, Then he could remove his nail from the board, She did this to all the children, And after each one pulled out there nail and the teacher said god had forgiven them for their sin, Each child let out a sigh of relief, The teacher and I could see that this show and tell has strengthened their belief, For they knew now although they hurt Christ when they sin, They could pray to god through his son Jesus and they would be forgiven, Because that is all part of god's grace, When they ask for forgiveness their sins are erased, And a place is kept for them, In god's heavily realm,
