I’ll review the information in the link you attached, and if I have any additional questions I’ll bring them to the meeting on June 9. The bylaws are posted on the Leadership Rutherford Board Planning Site, and for your convenience, I am sharing the link below: https://sites.google.com/a/rcsnc.org/leadership-rutherford---board- planning-site/ Currently, the bylaws do not address the hiring or termination of the facilitator position. At our last board meeting, I reviewed the facilitator selection process. Consistent with past practice, the position is first advertised internally to current board members. Candidates must be graduates of Leadership Rutherford and hold a bachelor's degree. If no qualified board member expresses interest, the position is then advertised to all program graduates. On May 14, I sent an email to the board reminding members of the facilitator vacancy, requesting that interested candidates respond to me by May 22. As a result of that process, one candidate expressed interest and was interviewed by the Executive Committee on May 27. Following the interview, the Executive Committee unanimously recommended hiring the candidate. The recommendation will be presented to the full board at our June 9 planning meeting, where the board will discuss the recommendation and then vote on the candidate following a motion and a second. In addition, I recommended to the Executive Committee that we amend the bylaws to establish a formal process for the hiring and termination of the facilitator position. This recommendation will also be discussed at the June 9/4/26, 11:44 AM Re: [EXTERNAL] Leadership Rutherford — future update request - Kelly Lovelace - Outlook about:blank 3/6 9 planning meeting, and an ad hoc committee will be formed to develop proposed bylaw revisions for the board's consideration. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. First, please accept my apologies for the delay in reaching out. I have been traveling extensively for work over the past few weeks and am only now able to catch up on board matters. During our most recent Leadership Rutherford Board meeting, my understanding was that the board voted to move forward by accepting applications for the facilitator position. Could I please get confirmation of that action, along with a copy of the motion as recorded in the meeting minutes and a current copy of our bylaws? As a new board member, I want to be certain I am accurately tracking our official actions. After reviewing the recent feedback and class evaluations distributed on May 23, I believe it is critically important that the full board be engaged in selecting the facilitator who will help guide the future of this program. The Leadership Rutherford Facilitator plays a significant role and serves individuals from a wide range of religious backgrounds, experiences, cultures, and perspectives. For that reason, I believe we should approach this decision thoughtfully, patiently, and intentionally — and in accordance with our current bylaws — to ensure we identify the candidate best suited to support the program's success. With approximately two months before this decision must be finalized, we have a meaningful window to seek out the most qualified individual for the position. To that end, I have a few procedural questions I hope the board can help to clarify: Have we formally advertised the position? If so, where was it advertised, and how long has the application period been open? 9/4/26, 11:44 AM Re: [EXTERNAL] Leadership Rutherford — future update request - Kelly Lovelace - Outlook about:blank 4/6 Could I get an update on the current timeline and the applicant pool to date? Is the full board expected to participate in the interview process, as I understand, has been our practice in the past? While I understand and value the recommendation to consider past Leadership Rutherford participants, I believe it is important that we remain open to all qualified applicants and evaluate each candidate on their ability to effectively lead and strengthen the program. I also want to ensure these questions are addressed through the proper channels — whether that warrants placing the item on our next meeting agenda for full board discussion or addressing it by other means the board deems appropriate. As a new board member, I am genuinely working to understand our processes and to honor them. Thank you all for your time, service, and commitment to the organization. I look forward to hearing more about the next steps. Best regards, Raven Thompson 828 447 6935 Lisa Bralley Backpack Program Coordinator Rutherford County Schools 382 W.
