It is a consulting paper: the scenarios describe a customer, not a feature. Everything below comes from VMExam’s MCAE-Con-201 syllabus page, cross-checked against Salesforce’s current exam guide. Certification Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant Exam code MCAE-Con-201 (formerly the Pardot Consultant exam) Role and level Consultant; Intermediate Questions 60 scored multiple choice and multiple select, plus up to 5 unscored Duration 105 minutes Passing score 68% Registration fee USD 200 plus applicable taxes (JPY 30,000) Retake fee USD 100 plus applicable taxes Prerequisite Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Specialist - required Languages English and Japanese Delivery Online-proctored, or at a test centre; no reference materials permitted Release alignment Exam questions align to the Summer ’23 release Maintenance Account Engagement maintenance badge on Trailhead, as released Recommended reading Salesforce Help: Market to Your Customers with Account Engagement Two things gate your plan. First, the prerequisite is hard : you must already hold Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Specialist to register. Second, the paper is 60 scored questions plus up to five unscored you cannot identify, so budget time for 65, and the pass mark is 68 per cent. Salesforce’s Account Engagement Consultant exam guide carries the current outline, fees and the full objective list used in this guide; the syllabus page and the guide agree on every weighting. SECTION 02 Who This Exam Is Built For Salesforce classes this as a Consultant-role, Intermediate-level exam with the Specialist credential as the entry ticket. That points at three groups: www.vmexam.com Salesforce MCAE-Con-201 Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant (MCAE-Con-201) 2 Account Engagement Specialists Moving Up Marketing Operations Leads Salesforce Partner Consultants The exam is offered in English and Japanese, online-proctored or at a test centre. The Trailhead Academy exam page has the registration details and the yen-denominated fees. If your Account Engagement experience is all inside one org, the gap to close is the Evaluation and Account Configuration sections - a consultant is paid to look at someone else’s setup and say what is wrong with it. SECTION 03 The Eight Sections and Their Weightings Salesforce publishes weightings for this exam, and they spread the marks widely: Account Configuration leads at 20 per cent , Evaluation and Automating Business Processes take 17 each, and the other five sections share the remaining 46. The weightings are plotted below exactly as published. Evaluation 17% Account Configuration 20% Automating Business Processes 17% Email Marketing 10% Lead Management 14% Personalizing the Prospect Experience 8% Reporting, Metrics and Analytics 11% Sales Emails and Alerts 3% Section weightings as published in Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant exam guide and on the VMExam syllabus. They total 100 per cent. Eighteen objectives across eight sections is a short list for a consultant exam, and the shape is worth reading. Fifty-four per cent of the marks sit in the three heaviest sections - configuration, evaluation and automation - with only eight objectives between them. Email Marketing is a single objective at 10 per cent. Sales Emails and Alerts is 3 per cent, the smallest section on any Salesforce blueprint in this series; know it, but do not study it. 01. Evaluation (17%) • Given a scenario that includes an assessment of a customer’s current Salesforce and Account Engagement landscape as well as business objectives, analyze and make recommendations on a path forward. www.vmexam.com Salesforce MCAE-Con-201 Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant (MCAE-Con-201) 3 • Design a strategy to identify customer business needs based on marketing trends using currently available tools and methods. 02. Sales Emails and Alerts (3%) • Configure Sales Emails and Alerts for sales use. • Summarize the benefits of Sales Emails and Alerts. SECTION 04 What the Credential Is Worth Consulting is the role, so that is the baseline: PayScale puts the average base salary for a Salesforce consultant in the United States at $99,111 for 2026, on 235 salary profiles last updated 25 May 2026, with the tenth to ninetieth percentile running from $74,000 to $137,000. Why this exam, specifically • It is the senior Account Engagement credential, and the one Salesforce partners require for consultants on B2B marketing engagements. • The blueprint is about judgment - assess, recommend, design - rather than configuration, which is what separates a consultant from an administrator. • Scoring and grading, lead routing and nurture design are the three things B2B marketing teams most often get wrong, and the exam is built around them. • It completes the Account Engagement pair with the Specialist, and sits beside the Marketing Cloud Engagement credentials on a marketer’s CV. The in-house comparison is close behind: PayScale reports the marketing automation manager at $95,214 on 127 profiles updated 9 October 2026. What lifts someone toward the top of either band is the Evaluation section in practice - being the person who can look at fluctuating scores, premature MQLs and strong open rates with weak pipeline, and say which of them is the cause and which are symptoms. The case-study question in the sample set is exactly that exercise. SECTION 05 Getting Certified, Step by Step www.vmexam.com Salesforce MCAE-Con-201 Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Consultant (MCAE-Con-201) 5 1 Hold the Specialist, then get a second org to look at Salesforce will not let you register without the Specialist credential. Once you have it, the best preparation is an Account Engagement org you did not configure - a colleague’s, a partner sandbox, a demo org - because the exam asks you to assess, not to build. 2 Learn the connector and the technical setup cold Connector user permissions and field-level security, field mapping, sync behaviour for leads against contacts, tracker domains, data migration planning. Account Configuration is 20 per cent and two of the ten sample questions are connector questions. 3 Design a lead-qualification model from scratch Scoring for engagement, grading for fit, a threshold that defines an MQL, and a routing model that respects the sales team’s existing assignment rules. Lead Management is 14 per cent and it is the section where consultants earn their fee. 4 Build one nurture with branching and one calendar for everything else Engagement Studio with behavioural branches, completion actions, automation against segmentation rules, and a send calendar that keeps list emails, nurtures and autoresponders from colliding. Automation and email together are 27 per cent. 5 Rehearse at 68 per cent with a case study in it, then book Sixty scored questions at 68 per cent is 41 right and 19 wrong at most, in 105 minutes including the unscored items. Expect at least one long case study with several questions hanging off it; practise reading one in under three minutes. For the rehearsal, VMExam’s MCAE-Con-201 practice exam mirrors the real format, including the multi-answer and case-study items, so you can find the gaps before the exam does. SECTION 06 Salesforce MCAE-Con-201 Sample Questions These ten questions come from VMExam’s MCAE-Con-201 sample questions page, presented here in shuffled order. Two ask for two answers. One of them - the CloudWare Analytics question - is a full case study : a page of discovery findings and goals followed by a single question, which is the format Salesforce now uses on its consultant exams and the reason to practise reading quickly. Two questions are connector setup, two are reporting and analytics, and the rest spread across personalisation, automation and lead management. The answer key is at the end of the section. Q1. CloudWare Analytics is a mid-market B2B data platform provider that recently completed its initial rollout of Salesforce and Account Engagement. It migrated from a non-Salesforce marketing tool using CSV exports and basic automation. During discovery workshops, the CloudWare team reports several issues: prospects sync to Salesforce inconsistently, with some appearing only as leads and others as contacts; score values fluctuate unexpectedly because multiple legacy scoring rules were recreated without a standard scoring strategy; the sales team complains that MQLs are routed before essential demographic data (industry, employee size, region) is populated, resulting in premature follow-up; email performance looks strong (40-50 per cent open rates), but pipeline conversion is low and sales says prospects "aren’t ready"; Engagement Studio programs exist but lack branching based on behavior, which limits nurture variations; the executives want unified reporting across Salesforce, Account Engagement and B2B Marketing Analytics but are unsure how the systems should align. CloudWare hires you to evaluate its current landscape and recommend a path forward. Its goals include: creating a standardized lead-qualification model combining scoring and grading; improving data quality and field governance; implementing a structured nurture strategy that reflects buyer intent; ensuring consistent reporting from Account Engagement to Salesforce to B2B Marketing Analytics; developing a scalable automation framework that eliminates conflicting automations. You begin your evaluation by reviewing the system setup documentation, integration points, data model and automation logic. Which two enhancements would help CloudWare increase nurture effectiveness and improve pipeline conversion? (Choose 2 answers) a) Add behavioral branching in Engagement Studio b) Reduce all email send intervals to one day c) Replace dynamic lists with static lists d) Implement buyer-intent-based segmentation Q9. Which situation indicates that a customer’s grading criteria need adjusting? a) Prospects have high grades but low engagement b) Sales rejects high-grade prospects as a poor fit c) Prospects unsubscribe from marketing emails often d) Prospects convert to opportunities quickly after handoff Q10.
