I was also responsible for the three Major Crime Scene Response teams comprised of patrol officers & detectives. Additionally I served as Liaison for the Citizen Academy Alumni and Command Representative for the Crisis Intervention Team which consists of approx 100 personnel serving in dispatch, patrol, and the detective division. May to August 2006 I served as the Lieutenant of the Special Victims Unit, Crimes against Children, Vice, Computer Crimes, and Polygraph Operators of the Anchorage Police Department Detective Division. . March 2003 to May 2006 I served as a Patrol Sergeant, supervising the day shift patrol officers, providing quality control for the Anchorage Police Department and supervision to the day shift officers. September 1990 to March 2003 : I worked in the Detective Division as a detective in General Investigations Unit performing investigations into street level drugs, gambling and prostitution. I then transferred to the Metro Drug Enforcement Unit conducting investigation into the larger drug dealers in Anchorage and statewide working closely with the DEA and FBI on drug investigations. I was then assigned to DEA and FBI assigned to OCDETF Officer conducting drug investigations inter & intra-state. September 1980 to September 1990: I worked as a Patrol Officer, Gang Suppression Officer, Scent Detection K-9 Handler. April 1979 to September 1980 My earliest days with the department I served as a Property & Evidence Cadet forming a basis for chain of custody, evidence preservation, and the demands placed on non-sworn personal. Awards and Commendations: I have been honored as Officer of the Quarter, Officer of the year, twice Detective of the Quarter and once Detective of the year. I was selected as State Law Enforcement officer of the year and twice Scent Detection K-9 handler of the year by outside agencies. I have a Life Saving award & Chiefs Commendation. Volunteer Activities: Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Alaska Volunteer as a Big Brother (Twelve years) Better Business Bureau Volunteer Arbitrator (served for approx seven years no longer active) Crisis Pregnancy Center Volunteer Anchorage Amateur Radio Club Emergency Communications Responded to Hurricane Katrina relief effort as volunteer worker I serve as an elected Board member to the Anchorage Police/Fire Retirement system managing a 380 million dollar retirement systems and its investments. I have twice served as Chair of that Board.
