It is a slot event as we do not want to have delayed traffic at airports due to reduced airport and approach capacities . We will cover all international airports and our only civil/ military airport. Ljubljana – LJLJ, Maribor – LJMB, Portorož – LJPZ and Cerklje – LJCE airports are included. If you want to join us book your slot right away! B OOKING S ITE Anyone willing to fly at our event needs to book a slot prior the flight. W hen booking your IFR slot or when flying VFR please consider the following: - booking page is only for IFR flights - you are booking the slot for the right airport (four airports are included) - have at least freeware scenery installed for the airport where you are flying to - weight category restriction is in slot information ! - read through comments section of the slot information! D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 4 VFR F LIGHTS All VFR flights are restricted to light category only, as stands at General Aviation apron are not for bigger sized airplanes. But because there will be l ess slots for VFR flights you are able to taxi to stand of your choice at General aviation apron. GA Aprons: Ljubljana (LJLJ): Apron can be reached via taxiway T connecting to parallel taxiway of A. Also taxiway V can be used but only for helicopters! Mari bor (LJMB): GA Area is behind B1 - B5 stands and is accessible via main apron taxiway connected via A and B taxiways. Portorož (LJPZ): Only one apron is at Portorož Airport, so IFR and VFR traffic stands are separated. IFR flights will take stands A, B and G 5, and VFR flights can take other stands. Cerklje (LJCE): There are multiple Military aprons at Cerklje and one civil apron. Civil apron is named Apron 03 and is at the far most Eastern part of the airport. All VFR civil flights need to park or start thei r flights at Apron 03. D epartures: Startup clearance is not needed. You are able to request taxi at initial contact and then immediately taxi out. Expect receiving squawk code while taxiing. Inform controller if in whatever case the intersection departure is not possible! Plan your departure via appropriate exit point (check VFR charts for specific airport before planning the flight)! Arrivals: You will be instructed to contact the Approach or Tower controller few minutes before entering the CTR or TMA. At initial contact report position, which will be one of the entry points for appropriate airport (check VFR charts for specific airport before planning the flight)! After you will be cleared for approach continue as instructed. If instructed to orbit (left/ right) orbit until the ATC will call you for approach. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 5 L JUBLJANA A IRPORT B RIEFING Ljubljana Airport (LJU/LJLJ) is the Slovenia’s biggest international airport located approx. 30 km North of the Slovenia capital city Ljubljana. Airport has one runway in direction 12/30 and the runway is equipped with ILS CAT III approach. Departures At first pilots should connect at the parking position which is determined by the particular booked slot. For event purposes all IFR flights will be served from the main apron . Please connect at least 15 minutes prior your EOBT (Estimated Off - Block Time) and file a correct flight plan. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 6 When ready for startup few minutes before EOBT call the first station which will be Ljubljana Tower (freq. 118.005) or Ljubljana Ground (121.930) if online. If your parking position is from stands 31 till 40 then you can r equest taxi out procedure without pushback but pushback is manda tory for all other stands (1 - 15) Runway in use will be runway 30 unless there are severe conditions which will not allow the safe use of this runway. So then expect t axi out from the apro n via M, N or P via taxiway A which is parallel to the runway and expect holding points B and C for departure. Advise controller if you are also able for F intersection departure. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 7 At initial clearance expect GIMIX departure for departures towards the North and MODRO departures for other directions. Aircraft will be cleared either via RNAV procedures which are GIMIX1Z and MODRO1Z or via conventional ones which are GIMIX1J or GIMIX1W and MODRO1W. Pilots should advise controller if aircraft is not capable of RNAV procedures. Transition level at Ljubljana is 10500ft and initial climb altitudes are FL120 for GIMIX and 6000ft for MODRO. After you have been cleared for takeoff follow the assigned departure and contact Ljubljana Radar (freq. 135.280). Radar will identify you and later when safe clear you for a direct to the next appropriate point. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 8 Arrivals P lan your arrival which can be either RNAV or conventional one and Ljubljana Radar (freq. 135.280) which is responsible for arrivals will clear you for the planned arrival or will vector you till the final approach. Radar will also inform you about the expected approach type, but you ca n simply expect ILS approach for runway 30. If there will be any kind of delay needed expect vectors for delay or expect entering the hold. There are three published holds for Ljubljana one is conventional one which is based on DOL VOR station and the ot her two are the RNAV holds (SEHOR, CEPRA) If vectored and you are reaching Initial Approach Fix expect to be cleared for the ILS approach runway 30 which is up to CAT III approach. ILS frequency is 110.500 and the track is 303. If vectored from th e South bear in mind to not overshoot the Localizer for runway 30 as there is high terrain North and North - East of the airport. In case of missed approach climb runway heading initially and climb 6000ft. Follow the standard missed approach procedure (first turn to the left) and then expect vectors for final approach from Ljubljana Radar. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 9 After you have landed expedite and vacate via G or via K. And then further you will be instructed to taxi via taxiway A and then to the apron via entry taxiways P, N, M to your assigned parking position. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 10 M ARIBOR A IRPORT B RIEFING Maribor International Airport is the second biggest airport in S lovenia, located in the North - Eastern part of Slovenia. The airport actually has 2 runways where one runway is asphalt and the second one is grass. The runways are in direction 14/32 and the main runway is from 32 side equipped with instrument approaches i ncluding ILS approach. The airport is procedurally controlled, as the ATC has no radar screen, so you as a pilot should strictly follow the procedures and follow the ATC instructions. Departures At first pilots should connect at the correct parking posi tion which is determined by the particular booked slot. Please connect at least 15 minutes before but not more than 30 minutes prior your EOBT (Estimated Off - Block Time) and file a correct flight plan. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 11 When ready, you can contact Maribor Approach (freq. 119.205) and you will get initial departure information. No pushback is needed at Maribor and you should call only for startup when ready. After receiving startup clearance, you can call for taxi. Expect runway 32 in use, so you will taxi t o holding point B. Keep in mind you will need a backtrack procedure for lineup and then for departure. But in case you are able for departure from intersection B (TORA 1404 metres) you can inform controller about it and he will determine if he can approve an intersection departure. After receiving take off clearances, strictly follow the SID - Standard Instrument Departure until reaching the final point of departure or until you will be transferred to another controller which has radar screen and will be a ble to give you the direct to next appropriate waypoint. Maribor Approach only covers the Terminal Control Area up to FL135, so after reaching this altitude you will be instructed to call either Ljubljana Radar (freq. 135.280) for departures towards the We st. But for other directions you will be instructed to call the appropriate controller covering the position which will be either Austrian, Hungarian or Croatian. Continue as planned to your destination. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 12 Arrivals Plan an appropriate arrival to Maribor. You will be instructed to contact Maribor Approach (freq. 119.205) few minutes before reaching your arrival waypoint. Expect to be cleared for arrival after initial call to Maribor Approach and you will be instructed to descend to an altitude according to STA R. Keep in mind Maribor Approach has no radar screen, so procedural control is in progress. You need to strictly follow the procedures and report positions when needed. All arrivals are guided to MR Locator which is Initial Approach Point for ILS or Locato r approach for runway 32. After passing MR you will need to either enter hold over MR or make a teardrop and get back to MR to descend and to be ready for approach. This depends on direction you are incoming. In case you are arriving from North or West you can make teardrop (number 2.). In case you are incoming from the NorthEast then you will need to make a teardrop following holding pattern (number 1.) but finally if you areflying from SouthEast then the only option is to enter holding at MR and then get ready for approach. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 13 And in case of any needed delay you can expect hold overhead MR at 4000ft or above. Again Maribor Approach is unable to give you vectors, so in case of any problems with flight procedures it is better to enter holding and then take t ime to plan the approach. After being cleared for approach which will mostly be ILS approach (freq. 110.100) you will follow the glide slope and in case of missed approach you will need to execute and follow the missed approach procedure. You will return t o MR and then you will enter holding and wait for next approach. After the landing, vacate the runway to the left. In case the backtrack is needed, Maribor will approve the backtrack and then you will vacate the runway to the West towards the main apron . Taxi to your stand and park at the position that was given to you when booking the slot. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 14 P ORTOROŽ A IRPORT B RIEFING Portorož only has procedural control as the ATC is not equipped with any radar screen. Due to that pilots need to strictly follow the procedures and report positions when instructed. Airport has one apron and a runway which is 1200 meters long in direction 33/15. There is VOR approach possible from 15 side only for approach CAT A/B aircraft and only visual approach or circle t o land is possible for runway 33. Departures At first pilots should connect at the correct parking position which is determined by the particular booked slot. Please connect at least 15 minutes before and if you see your stand occupied by another member then please reconnect on a nearby stand. For event purposes we will exclusively use stands A, B and G5 only for IFR flights, as A and B stands are the biggest ones and when using stand A then stands G4 and G1 are unusable. Mainly other VFR flights will co nnect on stands G6 - 8 and G2, G3 but you can also occupy those stands if your stand is blocked. When ready contact Portorož Approach (freq. 124.880) and request IFR clearance. After your readback you will be approved for startup and again when ready call A pproach for taxi. Approach will probably issue a clearance to line up the runway via appropriate taxi and will approve you the backtrack if needed (for runway 33). Then after you are lined up and ready, report ready for departure. You will be cleared for t akeoff and then after departure strictly follow the SID - Standard Instrument Departures as Portorož Approach has no radar screen and is unable to vector you or give you directs. Keep in mind that all departures from runway 15 have visual segment right after departure (left turn towards PZ NDB or POR VOR) and then they rejoin the departures from runway 33. The visual segment is represented on next picture with arrows. More information about departure procedures can be found on charts for LJPZ. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 15 Follow the departure and then expect to report passing POR VOR or PZ NDB station and you will need to report when passing 8000ft as after that Portorož Approach will release you to the next ATC station which can either be Ljubljana Radar for departures tow ards the East or either Italian or Croatian controller. After release you will be identified and then you will be able to continue as on flight plan. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 16 Arrivals Plan an appropriate arrival to Portorož. You will be instructed to contact Portorož Approach (freq. 124.880) few minutes before reaching your arrival waypoint. Expect to be cleared for arrival after initial call to Portorož Approach and you will be instructed to descend to an altitude according to STAR. Keep in mind Portorož Approach has no radar screen, so procedural control is in progress. You need to strictly follow the procedures and report positions when needed. All arrivals are guided either to PZ NDB or POR VOR which is Initial Approach Fix for VOR or NDB approach for runway 15. The n if you are reaching IAF from the East you can directly continue the VOR or NDB approach if you have been cleared for it. And in case you are arriving from the West then you will firstly need to make a teardrop entry to the holding pattern before continui ng for approach. There are two holdings available. One is located on PZ NDB station and the other one on POR VOR station. In case of overcrowded airport expect holding at one of them. As said you can expect instrument approach for runway 15 from POR VOR station, where ATC should clear you for approach before reaching POR VOR otherwise you will need to enter the holding. After being cleared continue firstly on outbound radial from POR an d then turn back towards POR for final approach. Stick to minimum altitudes during approach and report when established on final track. After that you will be cleared to land. And also keep in mind only CAT A and B are allowed to fly the VOR approach at Po rtorož, that is why also slots are restricted to light category and approach category A and B. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 17 In case of missed approach you should as soon as possible turn right and establish firstly on outbound radial from POR and then on inbound one. Enter the holding pattern and then expect to be cleared for another approach. After landing vacate to the left via B taxiway if possible o therwise ATC will approve you the backtrack procedure and then after you will vacate the runway. Continue with taxi to main apron and park at your parking stand defined in your booked slot. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 18 C ERKLJE A IRPORT B RIEFING Cerklje Airport is the civil and military airport at the same time . The military part has multiple aprons fo r aircrafts of all sizes. While the c ivil part only has one apron at far Eastern part of the airport there are only light aircrafts able to park there. So for event purposes only military aircraft will be allowed to fly into Cerklje. All bigger aircrafts will park at apron P at sta nds P1 or P2 while smaller light aircrafts can park at apron Zulu. The airport has only one runway in use in direction 09/27. And the runway 09 is equipped with ILS approach. And also keep in mind the airport only provides procedural control and has no radar screen, so procedures should be flown in the right order. Departures All IFR flights needs t o call Cerklje Approach (freq. 118.555) when ready to copy IFR clearance Clearance will be issued and then after the startup was approved you can call for taxi. Stands P1 and P2 do not need pushb ack as they are taxi - in and taxi - out stands. The same goes with all stands at apron Z, S and V. Also other stands at ap ron P are self - maneuvering , where pilots need to perform 180 ° turn while parking. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 19 When approval for taxi was i ssued taxi via main taxiway T to holding points A (RWY09) and holding point E (RWY27) . You can inform controller if any departure from intersection is possible and also inform if backtrack is needed for full runwa y length You can only expect departure towards point OTMOH as only d epartures from both runways towards OTMOH are available. If departing from runway 27 then establish on radial towards OTMOH. But if you are departing from runway 09 then be careful as there is Prohibited area North of the airport (Nuclear Power Plant) and should not be overflown, so strictly follow the departure procedure. When reaching or before rea ching OTMOH, you will be instructed to call Ljubljana Radar (freq. 135.280) and then you will proceed as on flight plan . You can expect directs to FIR exit point. D ESTINATION SLOVENIA SLOT BRIEFING 20 Arrivals Plan an appropriate arrival to Cerklje Airport and k eep in mind only Military Aircraft are able to request IFR slots . You will be instructed to contact Cerklje Approach (freq. 118.555 ) few minutes before reaching your arrival waypoint which will be ZAR VE Approach is possible after following ZARVE arrival or right from OTMOH waypoint. Descend via S TAR as instructed and expect ILS approach runway 09. Cerklje Approach has no radar scree n so only procedural control is available. Follow the instructions and report positions if instructed to do so. As stated in the pictur e above there is one holding pattern available at waypoint IZMAH from where you can then descend as in racetrack to reach the altitude to intercept ILS approach. The s ame holding pattern is used in case o f go around and after following missed approach procedure you will enter IZMAH holding. As said ILS approach is avail able from KUKFI (Final point of ZARVE1A arrival ) an d from OTMOH waypoint. Be cautious when flying OTMOH approach as there are few turns until reaching Final Approach Point. After being established for ILS approach ( CKL - freq. 111.100) report that to controller and when you have the landing clearance land at runway 09. In case of extreme winds circle to land procedure will be used to land at run way 27, but you need to strictly follow the circle to land procedure as there is Prohibited Area North of the Airport and circli ng is only authorized North of aerodrome. You shouldn’t overfly the Prohibited Area – LJP1 and as a guidance you can use Visual Maneuvering chart with prescribed tracks.
