Nehemiah 2:17–18 teaches us that great achievements begin with a vision and the willingness of people to work together. When Nehemiah challenged the people to rebuild Jerusalem’s walls, they responded, “Let us rise up and build.” They united and committed themselves to the good work. As we celebrate fifty years of God’s faithfulness, we recognise that there is still much to accomplish in Techiman Area. Our needs include a permanent place of worship, completion of the staff residence, development of our camp site, and financial support for the ministry. I therefore challenge each one of us to contribute towards this vision, whether through money, building materials such as cement, sand and quarry stones, professional skills, time or prayers. Together, we can build a stronger Scripture Union for future generations. Once again, you are all warmly welcome. May God bless you and Scripture Union Ghana, Techiman Area. Thank you, and God bless you all. 7 S cripture Union, Ghana, established in 1890 in the Gold Coast, had the mission of ensuring that individuals were introduced to Christ and expressed joy in Bible reading. Between 1967 and 1971 attempts were made in Wenchi and Techiman, by some young men and women led by the late Ben Opuni Ampadu of the Presbyterian Church, Wenchi, and Pastor Oduro of Adom Baptist, to establish Scripture Union Town Fellowships. Their main aim was to break the Islamic dominance in some parts of the Area. After several attempts to bring the fellowship on its feet, the idea gradually faded and was nearly abandoned. In 1972, however, Rev. Dr. Steve Asante and his wife, Evelyn, of the Techiman Adom Baptist Church, Rev. Rexford Kwadwo Brefo, a tutor of the then Techiman Secondary School, Mr. Odoi, also a tutor in the same school and Bro. Peter Twi Agyapong, became the founding members of Techiman Scripture Union, who rekindled the fire in Techiman, a predominantly farming and trading community. With a focus on revival through town fellowshipping, house to house evangelism and sound teachings, the numbers increased dramatically. Notable members in this evangelistic drive included Rev. Joseph Bosomah, Madam Anna Aduo Boakye, Mrs. Anna Eghan Essel, Madam Esther Ahia HISTORY OF SCRIPTURE UNION TECHIMAN AREA 8 (Mrs. Esther Bekoe), Madam Rosina Gyamfua, Mr. Franklin Ofosuhene, Mr. Caleb Woode and Mr. Frimpong Manso with some teenagers like S. Y. Kwarteng and Albert Blankson who played vital roles. Some of the pioneers who have passed away include Madam Rosina Gyamfua, Rev. Francis Kwabena Adeakye (Adom Baptist Church, Techiman), Very Rev. Moses Maxwell Tachie (Ebenezer Methodist Church), Mr. S. K. Yeboah (St. Paul Methodist Church), Mrs. Anna Eghan Essel and Mrs. Anna Aduo Boakye all of Ebenezer Methodist Church, Techiman. Techiman fellowship first met at Adom Baptist. They later moved to Methodist Yuroba Chapel. From there they moved to Techiman Presbyterian Chapel in the Southern part of the town. Through crusades and retreats, Wenchi was visited once again and a new fellowship was established. In 1984, Brother Clement Amankwaa was posted to Techiman as Techiman Area Staff. New fellowships that were added to the existing ones were, Nante, Akuma, Nkwabeng, Subingya, Tromeso, Nwoase, Krobo, Aworowa, Droboso, Nkwaeso and Tadieso. In the course of time, Techiman and Wenchi Fellowships established a fellowship at Kintampo. In 1985, Techiman Tanoso, Kuntunso and Koase fellowships were established. Between 1987 and 1991 new fellowships were established at Nkoranza, Ofuman, Awisa, Buoyem, Tuobodom and Manso. The fellowships in Techiman Area became very strong during the early years of the chairmanship of brothers J. K. Kwapong and Christopher Asante. However, in his latter years the Brong Ahafo (B/A) Regional Committee realized that he and his vice, Brother Christopher Asante, had more attention to other parachurch activities to the detriment of Scripture Union work. They were therefore persuaded to step down in 1985 and Brother E. K. Yeboah was appointed to act as Area Chairman until election of a substantive chairman. [C1.1] Amid this crisis, Sis. Anna Aduo Boakye resigned because of family issues. Bro. E. K. Yeboah was subsequently appointed as acting Area Treasurer. 9 Since there was no fellowship in the northern part of Techiman, the idea came that a new fellowship be opened so Mr. and Mrs. Kumih took the challenge and established the Techiman Zongo SU which later became Techiman North Fellowship in 1992. In 1993, Nsuta Fellowship was established, supported by Bro. Ben Ameyaw and his wife (Sis. Anna Nyarko Ameyaw), all of Nsuta fellowship. Sis. Grace Kraah, now Mrs. Grace Osei Sarfo, who was posted to Techiman as SU staff started her work on 23rd February 1993. Subsequently, the following fellowships opened in the Techiman Area collapsed due to lack of effective leadership: Kenten (1995), Nkrankrom/ Mangoase (2000) and Srapakrom (2012). All these fellowships were opened by Mr. and Mrs. Kumih and supported by Nana Kofi Kyeremeh (Nsuta Sresohene). Techiman SUYEF through Sis. Grace Osei Sarfo (Staff) was also opened in the early 2000s. This youthful Community Fellowship - SUYEF (Scripture Union Youth Evangelist Fellowship) remained vibrant through good coordination between SU Staff and her leadership to support school ministry work in JHS and SHS alongside the organization of Junior Camps. Pastor George Kyeremeh, Rev. Frank Adu, Mr. Emmanuel Akugri, Mr. Opoku Kwarteng among others served as leaders of this vibrant youth group. She handed over to Bro. Eric Asamoah on 10th November 2013, to join her husband who had been posted as a Presbyterian Minister at Wenchi. In 2014, Dwomor Amanfum fellowship was established. All these efforts were initiated by Mr. and Mrs. Kumih. When COVID came, all in-person fellowships were halted because of Government ban on public gatherings; but Amanfum fellowship met in person at Mr. and Mrs. Kumih’s residence till 2021. Online activities on Social media apps like facebook and whatsapp kept the other fellowships, notably SUYEF. Fellowships within the Techiman township and Hansua resumed meetings at Trinity Presbyterian Church when the ban on mass communal gatherings was lifted in July 2020. Bro. Eric Asamoah continued to 10 serve till he and his family were transferred to the Eastern Region to serve as Regional Manager in 2022. Bro. Christian Adu acted as APO in the interim until he was relieved by Bro. Prince Zackari. He resumed work buoyantly reviving School’s Rally and Mission activities. Bro. Benjamin Effah doubled as Regional Accountant and APO for the Area in 2025 when Bro Ekow Prince Zackari was appointed as APO to serve in Ashanti Region from 1st June 2025. Bro. Benjamin Effah was later replaced by Bro. Godfred Yeboah from January 2026 who continues to serve as APO to date. School and Community Missions keep thriving, especially in the post-COVID era. Christmas Community Mission was held in Mesidan in the year 2021. SHS Missions were held every year in selected schools, such as Koase SHTS in 2022, Techiman SHS (TESS) in 2023 and Busunya SHS in 2025, keeping the evangelical fire burning. Many souls are won and lives dedicated and transformed for Christ.[C2.1] Techiman Area SU was known for its camps at Techiman Senior High School until the new government policy of a double-track system and COVID disrupted them in 2020. Junior and Adult Mixed Camps resumed as a one-day event, instead of the usual four- day event, on 25th September 2021 at Adom Baptist Church. Subsequently, camps resumed in August 2022 at Techiman SHS then 2023 onwards at Ebenezer Methodist Preparatory School (EMPS), Techiman. The Area Camps Chairman, Mr. E. K. Boadu handed over work to new Chairman Mr. James Nkansah in 2025 after over ten years of service. The Camps Ministry continues to be a pillar in SU’s mission of leading people to know Christ and make Him known. Mr. John Owusu assumed Chairmanship of the Area Executive Committee in 2025 from Mr. Richard Cobbina’s team (with Mrs. Agnes Kumih as Vice), after nine years of service, to lead the SU ministry in the Area. Significant challenges have been disputes over SU lands in Nsuta, Kintampo, Tuobodom and Techiman, in recent years. Both the previous and current Area Executives have worked hand-in- 11 hand with chiefs and the Land Commission to secure documentation for Kintampo and Tuobodom lands, with the others in the pipeline. Other challenges include financial constraints in employing full- time staff for the area, inadequate funds to complete staff residence, leadership for new and struggling fellowships and enough volunteers to support SU Camp, Bible Reading and School ministries. Hallelujah to the Lord God Almighty! On behalf of the Regional Executive Committee which oversees SU Ministry work in the Bono. Bono East and Ahafo regions, I extend our warmest congratulations to Techiman Area SU family on celebrating your 50th anniversary. Reaching this historic Golden Jubilee milestone is a testament to the belief and enduring commitment to the SU vision and mission exhibited by past and present members of the SU family in the Techiman area. Ayekoo! As you celebrate 50 years of God’s goodness, we join you in giving thanks and praise to our Lord God knowing that it is only by His grace and faithfulness that Techiman Area SU continues to impact lives even in the face of challenges. We pay glowing tribute to all past members of the Techiman Area SU family, wherever they are, for their sacrifices and for laying a solid foundation which has set the pace for the present members. For five decades, SU ministry work in the Techiman area has stood the test of time as a beacon of 13 resilience and dedicated service. SU ministry work has consistently driven impactful life changes, empowered individuals, and strengthened the lives of not only members of the SU family, both past and present, but also people outside the SU fraternity. Your unwavering dedication to the core vision and mission of SU has not only shaped a remarkable legacy in the Techiman Area but has also set a benchmark for others to follow. We are proud to stand in solidarity with you as you celebrate this monumental achievement. As you look back on fifty years of proud history, we look forward to seeing your area’s continued growth, dedication and commitment to the SU Vision and Mission in the many years to come. Thank you all for being part of this 50th anniversary celebration. Congratulations once again on 50 years of remarkable impact! GEORGE EBENEZER AMONOO ( Regional SU Executive Committee Chairman) MESSAGE FROM THE REGIONAL MANAGER (BONO, BONO EAT, AHAFO REGIONS) HAPPY 50TH ANNIVERSARY, SU TECHIMAN AREA! FIFTY YEARS OF FAITH, SACRIFICE, SERVICE, GOD’S FAITHFULNESS AND TRANSFORMING LIVES! F ifty years ago, a few men and women, driven by love for God and a burden for children and young people, dared to sow seeds whose fruits we are celebrating today. Through their prayers, personal sacrifices, tireless commitment, and unwavering faith, they laid a foundation that has sustained Scripture Union Techiman Area for five decades. Some may no longer be with us, and others may never have imagined how far their little acts of faith would reach. Today, we honour them with grateful hearts. Their sacrifices were not in vain! As we celebrate this Golden Jubilee, we celebrate more than fifty years on the calendar. We celebrate lives nurtured in God’s Word, young people led to Christ, 14 faith strengthened, leaders raised, and communities touched by the transforming power of the Gospel. We thank God for every officer, volunteer, prayer partner, supporter, and friend who has carried the torch through the years. Each contribution, seen or unseen, has helped us to this moment. As SU Techiman celebrates 50 remarkable years, may this milestone inspire us not merely to look back with gratitude, but to move forward with renewed passion, courage, and commitment to the next generation. Yet, as beautiful as our story has been, our greatest days must not remain behind us. We must build on the foundation of our pioneers, reach more schools and communities, strengthen our fellowships, nurture emerging leaders, and equip a new generation to know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. May the next generation also remember us as people who did not merely celebrate the legacy we inherited but courageously invested in the ministry we will leave behind. Happy Golden Jubilee, SU Techiman Area! May the God who began this good work continue to strengthen us, enlarge your impact, and raise a new generation of faithful servants. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord...” — 1 Corinthians 15:58 EMMANUEL ADJARTEY ADJEI (SU Regional Manager) ADDRESS BY THE TECHIMAN AREA CHAIRMAN T he Chairman, Scripture Union Ghana, Techiman Area, Distinguished guests, representatives of Scripture Union Ghana, Our past and present leaders, ministers of the Gospel, partners, patrons, old students, young people, members and friends of Scripture Union, Ladies and Gentlemen, It is with great joy and deep gratitude to God that I welcome you all to this historic Golden Jubilee celebration of Scripture Union Techiman Area. 15 Today, we are not simply celebrating fifty years on a calendar. We are celebrating fifty years of God’s faithfulness, fifty years of His Word transforming lives, and fifty years of men and women who gave themselves to the task of leading people to know Christ and live by His Word. The Scripture Union journey in this area is a story of faith, sacrifice, perseverance and divine providence. From the early efforts of those who carried the vision of Scripture Union to Techiman, through the establishment and growth of the Area, God has continued to raise leaders, volunteers, teachers, students and supporters who have kept the work moving forward. Our theme, “Daily Walk with God, 50 years of growth and impact!”, is a testament of the ministry of SU in schools and communities within the region in fulfilment of our aims and mission as Scripture Union. As we celebrate fifty years, we must also ask ourselves: What kind of Scripture Union will we hand over to the next generation? The world around us is changing rapidly. Young people are confronted with pressures from social media, technology, changing values, materialism, broken relationships and many competing voices. This makes our mission even more important. We must not retreat. We must find new and effective ways of taking God’s unchanging Word to a changing generation. I therefore challenge all of us—leaders, churches, students, parents, young people and volunteers—to see this Golden Jubilee not as the conclusion of an era, but as the beginning of a new chapter. Let us strengthen our bible reading, school, camps, community fellowship and prayer ministries. Let us invest in young leaders. Let us embrace technology without compromising the truth of Scripture. Let us support evangelism, Bible studies, camps, retreats, discipleship and mentorship. Above all, let us raise a generation that can confidently say, “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path!” On behalf of Scripture Union Techiman Area, I express our profound appreciation to every person who has contributed to this ministry over the past fifty years. We remember with gratitude those 16 who laid the foundation, past executives and staff and all who served faithfully, and those whose labour continues to bear fruit even though they are no longer with us. To our current and former leaders, volunteers, patrons, schools, donors and partners: thank you. Your sacrifice has helped make this journey possible. May the next fifty years produce an even greater harvest of transformed lives, godly leaders and young people who will influence Ghana and the world for Christ.Scripture Union Techiman Area has come this far by the grace of God, and by His grace, we shall go much further. May God continue to bless Scripture Union Ghana. May He bless Scripture Union Techiman Area. May He bless our churches, schools, leaders and all members. And may we continue to walk daily in his word. Happy Golden Jubilee to Scripture Union Techiman Area! God bless you all. God bless Scripture Union. God bless Ghana. Thank you. GOODWILL MESSAGE BY DIVINE RAYMOND AMENYA (PAST AREA CHAIRMAN) O n the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of (SU - Techiman Area) It is with great joy and a heart full of gratitude to God that I extend my warmest congratulations and goodwill to the leadership, members, and the entire Scripture Union family in the Techiman Area on the occasion of this anniversary celebration. This anniversary is not merely a celebration of the passage of time; it is a testimony to God’s sustaining grace and a reminder of the vision, commitment, and sacrifices of those who have contributed to the growth and development of the Scripture Union over the years. I commend all past and present leaders and members for their dedication and service. Serving as an Area Chairman during the revival of our community fellowships across the Area was a true honor. I witnessed firsthand the commitment, love, and faith of members who voluntarily gave 17 their time, talents and resources for the gospel. Looking back, I am reminded that our strength was never in our programs or organizational abilities, but in the unity of members and the unwavering grace of God. I look back with deep appreciation for the privilege of serving the Lord through the Scripture Union and for the many experiences, relationships, and achievements that God graciously granted us during our time of service. The journey has been one of faith, sacrifice, fellowship, learning, and, above all, God’s faithfulness. As we celebrate this significant 50th milestone, may the Lord continue to strengthen the leadership, unite the membership, and give the fellowships in the area greater wisdom, influence, and effectiveness in fulfilling their God-given mandate, to bring the GOOD NEWS to all men. May the next chapter of Scripture Union in the Area be even more impactful in winning souls and building Christ-centered lives. May the years ahead bring greater growth, deeper fellowship, stronger leadership, and increased impact for the Kingdom of God. May every new season be marked by divine guidance, excellence, peace, and abundant grace. Once again, I warmly congratulate the SU family on this anniversary. I am proud to be part of the journey, and I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served. Happy Anniversary, and may God continue to bless and prosper the ministry for many more fruitful years. Congratulations and God bless us all. 18 GOODWILL MESSAGE BY MAMA GRACE OSEI SARFO, FORMER AREA PROGRAMMES OFFICER (A.P.O.) H urray! Happy Golden Jubilee Anniversary - To God be the glory for His mighty and wondrous deeds. With profound gratitude to God Almighty, I extend my warmest felicitation to the entire membership on this glorious occasion of our Golden Jubilee anniversary. This significant milestone is a remarkable testament to God’s goodness and faithfulness throughout these past 50 years. I was transferred from Berekum Area to Techiman SU in 1993- 2013 and by God’s grace and the Power of the Holy Spirit (Zech 4:6), worked under the following chairmanship and their respective executives, Mr. Divine Amenya, Late Mr. Kwadwo Fosu, Mr. Adom Frimpa and Mr. Adjei Baffour. And within this period, I can attest to the fact that there was a great transformation within the Area all because the Area and fellowship executives selflessly worked hard towards this achievement. I wish us all a rewarding celebration. Beloved, SU is US. Let us renew our commitment and love for this holy call. Let us look forward to a brighter future of transformed lives. Congratulations! God bless Techiman Area, Bono, Bono East & Ahafo and National S.U Ministry. Amen. CONGRATULATIONS ON 50 YEARS OF FAITHFUL MINISTRY AND SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP I Gaddiel Nana Pesseh, want to extend my warmest congratulations to Scripture Union, Techiman Area on celebrating your 50th anniversary. Reaching a golden jubilee is a magnificent milestone, but the true celebration lies in the lives that have been transformed under your guidance. For five decades, and the several change of leadership batons, your unwavering commitment to teaching the Word, fostering deep discipleship, and building robust spiritual foundations has left an eternal 19 mark on countless individuals and families. Individuals some of who serve in leadership positions in both government and private organizations in Ghana and offshore. Your dedication to guiding believers in their faith journey is a powerful testament to God’s faithfulness and your steadfast devotion to His work. Thank you for being a reliable beacon of spiritual truth, hope, and love for half a century. As you reflect on this rich legacy, I pray that God continues to bless your ministry with renewed vision, strength, and favor. I have no regrets associating with you. May the next 50 years bring even greater opportunities to impact hearts and nurture spiritual growth. In faith and partnership, REV. GADDIEL NANA PESSEH ( Family Chapel International Techiman) GOODWILL MESSAGE BY REV. FR. KWAME ADJEI BAFFOE (FORMER AREA CHAIRMAN) D ear Able and Energetic Executive, Planning Committee Members and the entire Scripture Union Fraternity, Techiman Area, Grace and peace be with you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is my pleasure to extend warm greetings and a heartfelt message of solidarity to you as you gather to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Scripture Union, Techiman Area, under the theme: Called to be Holy (1 Peter 1:14–16). “Called to be Holy” is both a command and a responsibility for every believer to practice practical holiness in all aspects of life. It is also a call for reflection. As we celebrate 50 years of Scripture Union’s existence in the Techiman Area, we need to reflect and examine whether we are still in the faith, and make the necessary amendments so that we do not shift our goalposts. I warmly commend the leadership of 20 Scripture Union, Techiman Area, both past and present, for their dynamism, vision, dedication and commitment to spiritual growth through initiatives such as this year-long anniversary celebration. I also commend all committed members, both home and abroad, who have supported Scripture Union, Techiman Area in diverse ways with their resources to sustain the Union thus far. As it is written in 1 Samuel 7:12b, “Thus far the Lord has helped us” (NIV). May this anniversary renew our faith, deepen our holiness and our intimate walk with God, and inspire us for greater service in God’s Kingdom business. I wish you every success in all your endeavours. Happy 50th Anniversary! God bless Scripture Union Ghana! God bless Scripture Union, Techiman Area! GALLERY
