Our apprenticeship strategy is under review, and we are working on what our core offering(s) will be moving forward. We have a variety of apprenticeships, and will soon be opening for Engineering (Level 3), CSR Practitioner (level 4 - one of six green apprenticeships in honour of His Majesty The King’s Coronation) and Aviation Firefighter (level 3). What are the opportunities for full- time employment after completing the apprenticeship? MAG utilises apprenticeships as part of our succession and business planning, therefore if an apprenticeship is successful (and an apprentice would like to remain at MAG) there will be roles for apprentices to move in to. MAG APPRENTICESHIPS 2024 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprentice Level 4 In this unique role, you will join MAG in a level 4 apprenticeship, joining a professional team to support MAG in maintaining its environmental and social ‘licence to operate’. You’ll have genuine impact in this role by helping to enable future development and growth at our airports. With your day to day role ranging from monitoring environmental performance to engaging with local communities you have a real opportunity to make a difference. The role will work within the Flight Evaluation Unit (FEU) to support in data collection and reporting of a range of topics predominantly relating to noise and ESG data. This role is paired with the Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner Apprenticeship, supporting the apprentice’s development to act as a social conscience for MAG. You will contribute to innovation and drive ambitions for social and environmental change, making these a reality that are embedded and implemented across MAG. You should have an understanding of corporate responsibility and sustainability, either through formal education, previous work experience or personal interest, as well as a passion for communication and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. Operational Aviation Firefighter Apprentice Level 3 An aviation firefighter must adhere to all regulations and procedures in order to respond to emergency situations and protect life and property. Other duties include providing feedback to superiors, proposing recommendations for improvement, maintaining equipment, and promoting safe working practices. Aviation firefighters are also responsible for personal and team compliance with health and safety policies, being knowledgeable about the airport facilities to assist passengers, and maintaining professional standards at all times. Although physical fitness is important to this role, other skills are vitally important. To become an aviation firefighter, you need skills such as attention to detail, good organisational abilities, and the ability to work without supervision, while still delivering work on time. Our firefighters must efficiently mobilise resources, maintain effective working relationships with internal and external bodies, and promote a professional image of the airport. Personal qualities like being open to change, promoting a safe working environment, and taking pride in your appearance are also important. Engineering Technician Apprentice Level 3 Discover the world of automation and how it helps to deliver a safe, secure, and efficient environment for the Airport’s customers. See engineering in its various aspects from mechanical and electrical through to electronics and software, all of which give passengers a seamless experience through our Airports’. Learn how automation works, is applied, and your role as an Engineering Technician. We will give you the academic training and vocational experience to qualify as an Engineering Technician. This includes complimentary membership of the IET and professional registration with the Engineering Council on graduation. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to start their engineering journey through our apprenticeship system, learning the skills, ethics, and professional conduct to become the Engineers of the future.
