2b2t: A documentary 2b2t, or the worst server in Minecraft - a place with no rules. Hacking, griefing, spawn killing, PvP, it's all allowed. (Except making lag machines). The owners of the server, Hausemaster and his anonymous friend, have changed the server with plugins, restrictions and other things, while trying to keep the server as Vanilla as possible. Today, we will dive deeper into this server and why it is such a strange Minecraft server. Chapter 1--- The Queue Upon joining 2b2t for the first time, you are greeted with a queue. The waiting times for the queue are crazy - you might have to wait a full DAY just to play. But then there's priority queue. 20 bucks a month to be given "priority access to the server". Priority queue puts you ahead in the queue. It works like this: there are two queues, regular and priority queue. Priority queue is in front, with the regular queue at the back. Regular queue can only access the server once the WHOLE of priority queue is finished. This, at non peak hours, leads to waiting times of a third of a day, without priority queue. With priority access, times are about 2-1 and a half hours. But $20 a month? That's a lot. $240 a year to play on the server. You could have bought a lot with that. To some, those who have this wasteland as their primary server, it's worth it. But for newcomers, certainly not. But it's considered as a donation. A donation is to help something grow. But for 2b2t this is the opposite. Chapter 2--- Hausemaster Rant With over a thousand players owning priority queue, Hausemaster makes $240,000 a year from the server. That's so much. $20,000 a month. And all he does is nothing. He sits at his computer playing games, while people buy priority queue. Sure, he has stopped lag machines with a punishment of regular queue, and stopped hacks like Flying or ElytraFly. But what about the time Sharpness 5 was removed from axes, or Silk Touch from Shears. Dead bushes can't be picked up, quickly loading chunks kicking you. Sure, small things, but that's a lot being taken away from Vanilla. There is Bedrock in the End Dimension. The End is meant to be a huge void, not a Bedrock land. That Bedrock isn't going away, either. What about the recent NOCOM exploit? HE told developers at Paper MC to fix it, instead of doing it himself. He was warned about this MULTIPLE TIMES, and yet he let thousands of bases be blown up by griefing groups. Being the Admin of a server, you have to ensure that your server is up and that you have a happy player base. But letting thousands of bases be blown up? Being a good admin? Heck no. He was warned so many times that something like this was happening, yet he ignored it all. Oh wait! He got rid of every way possible to talk to the community. What about the time he gave iTristan and Pyrobyte (Cryobyte) backdoor access and didn't care? Tristan made 32k Sharpness swords and you call that being a "good" admin? Sure, you implemented a plugin to stop this, but you let the plugin turn off after some years. Is that because of how Furnaces were used to chunk ban people? And yet you didn't fix it, instead you just removed the plugin all together? What about the plugin which allowed a redstone dupe found by SalC1. Meant to be a "Vanilla" server. Yeah, making a duplication glitch which you refuse to fix is certainly very "Vanilla". What about the time Hausemaster removed ALL mob spawners, so bases built around mob farms became useless. What about the time he killed his player base and they then went to Constantium, a different, TRUE anarchy server? What about the time Elytras could get you stuck, but by removing the Elytra would kill you? What about the time tons of people lost their data in their inventory, Ended Chest and even bed spawn? What about the huge canals made because Hausemaster took too long to switch the data out to a Terabyte drive? Not to mention the fact that he removes any threads which offend him in the r/2b2t subreddit? Well, good luck removing this video. Chapter 3 --- Minecraft and 2b2t's relationship Hausemaster seems to HATE Mojang for how bad Vanilla servers are. And the reason for that makes sense. The way Minecraft servers use the CPU of a server is simple: One core. That's it. This means that everything in the server, entities, players, blocks, dimensions, player data is all using only one thread of the server. Because so much is happening all on one thread, the server lags when more than about 5 players are online. Hausemaster has fixed this using Paper MC, an alternate version of Minecraft. But the way the Minecraft clients are scripted, Vanilla or not, only take advantage of one thread. This is good for resources, but terrible for fixing lag. Because of this, there is no difference between a 124-thread server and a server with an i7 core. Because if the insane amount of lag, Hausemaster tries to remove things like lag machines. Chapter 4 --- Punishments On an anarchy server, you should not be banned at any point in time. The worst case on 2b2t is FitMC being kicked from the server. Another well-known punishment is the /mute command. If you spam so fast that the server's one thread begins to be overloaded, Hausemaster may /mute you. If he is playing and you are filling his chat up, he'll probably /mute you. It is known that making lag machines will result in you losing Priority queue. Then, Hausemaster will either grief it or world edit it out and then reload the chunks to restore the chunks to their original state. This, according to the majority of the player base, think that this is a fair punishment. After all, lagging the server out results in constant rubber-banding. Chapter 5 --- The Unsolved History of Hausemaster Watching this, you may have realised how I refer to "Hausemaster and his anonymous friend". In 2014, on the now removed 2b2t website, a post was made saying that Hausemaster has quit indefinitely. The post said that the server would be run by his anonymous friend. After that, the 2b2t support email became suddenly more aggressive, and certain plugins were being removed. Before a grief on a huge base, withers were disabled. But when the grief took place, withers were enabled, and when the team was done, they were re-disabled. This happened again a few months later. This could have been iTristan and Pyrobyte, who had gained backdoor access to the server at the time. Then, a few years later, some unknown person had gained access to the GeorgeBush420 account, one of Hausemaster's alt accounts. Then, nothing too bad seemed to be happening. The account had its permissions stripped but the original Hausemaster seemed to have taken over. This leads to a theory of GeorgeBush420 being Hausemaster's unknown friend. Who could this have been? It's couldn't have been iTristan, because he would have fully attacked the server, as that was his goal a lot of the time he was on 2b2t for. It could've been Pyrobyte, as with his backdoor access, he showed restraint against using it for malicious reasons. The only thing he really has attached to his name when it comes to backdoors is duping the 32k Sharpness Swords, which Tristan made. Chapter 6 --- Credits Thank you to fastvincent1, SalC1, FitMC and Fax machine for information and video footage. This isn't a very original video, as a lot of what I have said is more what I gathered from their videos. It is a collection, instead of something entirely original. Thank you to SalC1 for the Hausemaster Rant section, as a lot of the comments on his videos wanted a full rant so I made one. Myself, I have never played 2b2t, but I play on Cloud anarchy, a similar server.
