Im Handlungsfeld Coaching stellt die Digitalisierung alle Beteiligten vor massive Herausforderungen. Ein flächendeckendes Umdenken findet spätestens seit der weltweiten Corona-Pandemie statt – mit folgenreichen Konsequenzen für die Coachingbranche. Coaching hat sich in den letzten Jahren signifikant weiterentwickelt und sieht sich mit umwälzenden Effekten einer zunehmenden Digitalisierung und gesellschaftlichen Transformation konfrontiert. Kommunikation stößt kaum mehr auf Grenzen und verbindet auf Knopfdruck entlegene Kontinente. Unternehmen aus allen Branchen setzen auf neue Organisationsformen. Die Anforderungen an Arbeitnehmer*innen verändern sich permanent. Agilität wird zum Schlagwort. Im Kontext dieser Entwicklung stellen sich für Coaching u. a. folgende Fragen: Wie wirkt sich die Digitalisierung auf den Bedarf von Coaching aus? Wie verändert die Digitalisierung das Beratungsformat Coaching? Wie wirksam ist Digital Coaching im Vergleich? Wie positioniert sich Coaching als Profession im Zuge dieser gesellschaftlichen Transformation? Der Sammelbandband beinhaltet wichtige Thesen und Antworten innerhalb dieser Debatte.

There is some talk about an antibiotic Armageddon due to quickly developing resistance towards commercially available antibiotics. For the most part, the classical antibiotic pipeline has dried up, and antibiotic resistance to any new drugs quickly develops. It is here that metal-based antimicrobials can step forward as possible solutions in this antimicrobial resistance era. The biological targets of metal atoms are more diverse, thus making it more difficult for bacteria to develop resistance compared with classical antibiotics. The metal silver has been used since antiquity for wound healing and water purification. At present, it is the most prevalent antimicrobial metal used in healthcare, industry, and consumer products. Silver is being used in the form of ionic salt, colloids, or in specific nanomaterials, and as described in this book, it can be applied as mixtures with other antimicrobials or coating composites. The different formulations are explored for their efficacy against a variety of problems related to agricultural and medical infections. Whilst by no means exhaustive, this book nicely highlights the present directions in silver-based antimicrobial research and antimicrobial formulation development. The chapters have been organized from a general introductory review to approaches of mixing other antimicrobials and materials to enhance silver performance. This is followed by synthetic approaches. First are biogenic (sometimes called green or eco-friendly) approaches, followed by advanced physical–chemical synthetic approaches. The book ends with an overview of applications through a review of patents over the past 10 years.

This open access book presents the first detailed study of one of the most important masterpieces of Renaissance cartography, Martin Waldseemllers Carta marina of 1516. By transcribing, translating into English, and detailing the sources of all of the descriptive texts on the map, as well as the sources of many of the images, the book makes the map available to scholars in a wholly unprecedented way. In addition, the book provides revealing insights into how Waldseemller went about making the map -- information that cant be found in any other source. The Carta marina is the result of Waldseemllers radical re-evaluation of what a world map should be; he essentially started from scratch when he created it, rejecting the Ptolemaic model and other sources he had used in creating his 1507 map, and added more descriptive texts and a wealth of illustrations. Given its content, the book offers an essential reference work not only on this map, but also for anyone working in sixteenth-century European cartography.

Shaping Urban Futures in Mongolia provides an ethnography of actions, strategies and techniques that form part of how residents precede and underwrite the owning of real estate property – including apartments and land – in a rapidly changing city. In doing so, it charts the types of visions of the future and perceptions of the urban form that are emerging within Ulaanbaatar following a period of investment, urban growth and subsequent economic fluctuation in Mongolia’s extractive economy since the late 2000s.

Suicide is a complex phenomenon that is now considered understood as a neurodevelopmental condition encompassing childhood experiences as well as proximal conditions such as mental disorders and adverse life events. Individuals in crisis may face overwhelming psychological pain, which in some cases may overcome the threshold of each unique individual for whom suicide is considered the best option to deal with such pain. However, many socio-demographic, personal, or temperamental variables have been investigated for their causal association with suicide risk, but to date no single factor has clearly demonstrated an association with suicide. The mental disorders most frequently associated with suicide risk include bipolar disorders and major unipolar depression, substance use disorders and schizophrenia. However, anxiety, personality, eating, and trauma-related disorders, as well as organic mental disorders, also contribute to suicidal risk. Moreover, in modern society, the presence of social uncertainty, the changes in family models, the development of social media, and the loss of face-to-face interaction can have an impact on suicide risk, particularly in the younger generation.
