Hermann Hesse erlangte von Beginn seines literarischen Schaffens an viel Beachtung. Es gibt zahlreiche Monographien und wissenschaftliche Aufsätze über seine Werke, die meisten konzentrieren sich auf das traditionelle Forschungsparadigma der Literaturkritik. Eine kognitiv-linguistische Perspektive wurde bisher noch nicht eingenommen. Hesses Märchen erhalten wenig Beachtung, obgleich sie ausgezeichnete Werke sind und mehr Aufmerksamkeit verdient haben. Die vorliegende Arbeit rückt daher Hesses Märchen in den Mittelpunkt und wählt als methodischen Zugang eine kognitiv-linguistische Perspektive. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Metaphern und China-Symbole in den 15 von Hesse zwischen 1903 und 1933 geschriebenen Märchen zu identifizieren, dann die Beziehung zwischen Metapher, China-Symbolen und Märchenthemen durch eine kognitive Analyse aufzuzeigen und schließlich die Rezeption der China-Symbole in Hesses Märchen unter einer kognitiv-linguistischen Perspektive zu verstehen.

Examining Russia–EU relations in terms of the forms and types of power tools they use, this book argues that the deteriorating relations between Russia and the EU lie in the deep differences in their preferences for the international status quo. These different approaches, combined with economic interdependence and geographic proximity, means both parties experience significant difficulties in shaping strategy and formulating agendas with regards to each other. The Russian leadership is well aware of the EU’s "authority orientation" but fails to reliably predict foreign policy at the EU level, whilst the EU realizes Russia’s "coercive orientation" in general, but cannot predict when and where coercive tools will be used next. Russia is gradually realizing the importance of authority, while the EU sees the necessity of coercion tools for coping with certain challenges. The learning process is ongoing but the basic distinction remains unchanged and so their approaches cannot be reconciled as long as both actors exist in their current form. Using a theoretical framework and case studies including Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine, Busygina examines the possibilities and constraints that arise when the "power of authority" and the "power of coercion" interact with each other, and how this interaction affects third parties.

Castle Richmond is the third of five novels set in Ireland by Anthony Trollope. Castle Richmond was written between 4 August 1859 and 31 March 1860, and was published in three volumes on 10 May 1860. It was his tenth novel. Trollope signed the contract for the novel on 2 August 1859. He received £600, £200 more than the payment for his previous novel, The Bertrams, reflecting his growing popular success. Castle Richmond is set in southwestern Ireland at beginning of the Irish famine. Castle Richmond is situated on the banks of the Blackwater River in County Cork. Trollope's work in Ireland from 1841 to 1859 had given him an extensive knowledge of the island, and Richard Mullen has written that "All the principal strands of his life were formed in Ireland." The unusually (for Trollope) complicated plot features the competition of two Protestant cousins of English origin, Owen Fitzgerald and Herbert Fitzgerald, for the hand of Clara Desmond, the noble but impoverished daughter of the widowed Countess of Desmond, providing the novel's principal dramatic interest. Castle Richmond was the first of several novels by Trollope in which bigamy played an important role. The Irish famine and efforts by authorities to mitigate its effects are the subject of many scenes and the object of abundant commentary throughout. The famine also occasions more explicit religious commentary than is typical in novels by Trollope. The critical reception to the novel was limited but generally favourable.
