Ovi History Isssue No24 - Black Thursday

Ovi History

On October 24, 1929, the New York Stock Exchange plunged into chaos as a record 12.9 million shares traded in a single day, later known as Black Thursday. A coalition of bankers, led by Richard Whitney, attempted to stabilize the market by buying large blocks of stock, temporarily reversing the crash and restoring prices to near pre-panic levels.
